It would actually be best to play him 24-25 minutes a night. The problem is you're taking minutes away from the kids that deserve it and work for it.

Giving Huberdeau more minutes isn't going to do anything unless the team changes up their offensive style (which should happen anyways) or gives him linemates that complement his strengths (e.g. guys that can open up space)

So a no move clause doesn’t just cover other organizations? It also covers the Flames organization?
That doesn’t make any sense. The players have too much power in the league right now. The retirement contracts must have numerous teams handcuffed.

Not sure who would fit that bill. Coronato?

What's sad is he could learn something from Zary right now. Make smart, safe plays intermixed with high risk ones. All huberdeau does is high risk nonsense, unless it's a bump-back to the D.. but anyone can do that

If it was just an NTC, he could be put on waivers still (I believe). But an NMC means no movement, period, even for reassignment.

Hitchcock's point is that it's not as much about style of play or anything else. Confidence is paramount. Which is obvious.
Most important step is for Huska to let Huberdeau know he has confidence in him.

All the teams have to do is not sign those contracts.

Huberdeau's ES ATOI this season is lower than his historical average, but his PP ATOI this year is in line with his PP ATOI in Florida.
Huska having confidence in Huberdeau isn't going to correct the obvious system issues (e.g. as identified by Sportsnet/Vanessa Kewzer) and underutilization of Huberdeau's strengths that are causing the current problems.

Just stick him in the pressbox until he and his agent can figure how to get him out of his contract so he can play somewhere else.

Athletes don’t get more valuable when you stick em in the attic - they’re not paintings.

And the more I think about this the more I think more time and responsibility is the only thing that will get him playing better. He needs repeated touches, or else he won't build chemistry with anyone.
A lot of these suggestions sound more like punishment than an attempt to improve the situation.

he is depreciating his value when on the ice, so I am not sure that it matters where he is.
this Chemistry thing is BS too, at 10.5 mil/season, you are supposed to be making the players around you better. not cycling through an entire team to find 1 person you can play with.
I am definitely not in the camp of play him more. He has now played poorly long enough that this is up to him to turn around, he has been given ice time, pp time, different line mates for over 90 games nothing has worked. Now he should get the ice time he has earned during his time in Calgary. If he starts playing better he can earn more time.
Calgarys PP is terrible and he shoudl 100% not be on it the way he is playing.

In the real world, when you are underperforming at your job, you will be put to a "performance plan."
Huberdeau probably needs to put on one. Maybe have him repeatedly shoot at the net, make cross-ice pass, whatever. Hopefully it will help him

that is 100% correct, keep hearing that we need to trade for Duclair? if that doesnt wake him up, then what? keep trading in hopes your 10.5 million dollar man can gell with someone? ALso tired of hearing about the system the Flames play? so many excuses, I just cant envision him ever being a good player here, not a great player just a good player

Completely agree. All this talk about "getting him going" is a waste of time. His confidence?? Show him the coach trusts him??? I've seen no evidence of untapped talent and everything that's been tried has failed. Who cares if his value decreases if he's sitting in the press box. Playing him hasn't helped at all. Let him and his agent figure out how we get rid of him and his 10.5.

See, this is what I'm talking about - it's more about putting blame on Huberdeau, which is all well and good - than finding an actual solution. You seriously think sitting him will make him better?
It doesn't matter how much he's paid. It doesn't matter if it's "on him". The goal is to make the team better and get more out of him. Sitting him won't make him better.
