This is beyond true.
It makes the most logical sense, and you'd definitely feel like he would resign in Columbus as well with Johnny.
It's funny, Columbus is almost entirely in the same boat as Calgary.
Regret signing Johnny to the contract due to lack of production... feel like they need to bring in someone to help spark Johnny's game/confidence much like Huberdeau here...
With Kent in the Doghouse there it would be a welcome name as part of the trade, but probably to good to be true.

I thought Columbus made a tone of sense before they went into the absolute toilet. I just don’t see a team clearly on another down year trading youth for a 29 year old center.

The only thing is Jarmo gets desperate. He has got to be on thin ice but Lindholm still needs to want to sign there

Feel like Detroit makes a lot of sense for Lindy.
Yzerman has been agressive with building the team, he fits thier style of play, would make for a lethal 1-2 punch down the middle and they have the pieces to spare to get the deal done.
Gibson, Maata (cap dump and we will need some defenders after everyone is traded), first or equivalent prospect and 2nd for Lindy.
If Conroy plays his cards right we can really put together some nice building blocks for the future here.

I can't see them spending much (if anything) to acquire Lindholm if they don't view themselves as a playoff team this season.
IMO Columbus is a Free Agent destination for Lindholm and not so much a trade target.

I thought this too initially when the Babcock firing happened. But right now, just looking at the standings, they are the last placed team in the Eastern conference tied with Ottawa. But Ottawa has two games in hand. They are so far away from making a "win now" type of trade, IMO. And yeah, good luck trying to re-sign Lindholm. Colombus isn't exactly a coveted landing spot.

It wouldn't be the first time a GM does something stupid to to try and save the season. Really depends on if Jarmo is on the hot seat internally or not and Lindholm is willing to sign. I think they have the most potential to overpay but their crappy start does dampen that

Friedman speculated at the start of the season, right around the Babcock firing that this is likely Jarmo's last kick @ the can in Columbus. He won't be around another year rebuilding, so I'm hoping he goes all in here in hopes they can turn it around.

Not everyone wants to screw their team one last time before exiting

GMs are executors of the plan. If ownership doesn’t give the blessing to go all in, Jarmo can try and save his skin all he wants but ownership can see through it and block. To me they’re in a worse position than the flames in that they have no assets to trade from the players they have. They shouldn’t be going all in with that crap they have fielded. Any owner should see that. Jarmo should have been let go some time now. Directionless.

This could and likely would be a situation where ownership gets involved. The team has 1 win in their last 10 games. They are a team with mostly high picks but do have some veterans signed to big money deal. Gaudreau was a huge acquisition last year that ultimately cost them Bjorkstrand and Johnny looks awful in year 2 and didn’t really likely up to a $9.75M cap hit in year 1. If I own the Jackets I am not letting this guy make any more seismic moves that will greatly impact the future of the team.
When a GM or anyone in a similar type role in their industry is on their last legs the leash gets tighter and their freedom to make any move they see fit is limited.

The way Columbus is playing their season is over by the end of the month. Lindholm isn't enough to save them.

If we’re dealing with CBJ, and Lindholm is the subject, you have to sell the fact that Lindy was Gaudreau’s C in the best year of his career. They really need to get JG going.

Monahan pre-injuries was the best centre Gaudreau ever played with.

Ah, then we should offer them Monahan.

Lindholm isn't doing himself or the Flames any favors with his play this season as I can't imagine pro scouts attending games are being blown away by the skills and effort level he's been showing to date.

Gotta trade Lindholm for Johnson. Then later in the season, take JG away from Lindy, with a Hubby for JG trade

To me Edmonton is one of the best teams to be working with. They have an illusion they’re a top team but need major help on D. The fact they’re more or less all in should mean their 1st rounder is in play. Give them help as we’re rebuilding. How can we complain if they give up draft assets? It works for both teams.

At some point getting value back will be maximizing value.
I don't think the Flames should be to precious. Just load up on a few good picks.

Helping Edmonton is not a good thing
