Disappointed that Conroy has not figured that out by now.

Lindholm has been playing with a winger who is having the worst stretch of his career who he has no chemistry with and a rotation of 3rd liners.
I admit Lindholm isn't an elite 1C but your assessment isn't overly fair.
I do think we should trade him but it's more because of his age and the situation this team is in than anything else.

Lindholm got 64 points playing with no stars on his line and 78 with just one.

Monny had 82 points and Tkachuk had 77 that season they played the PP together.

His 78 points came with 2 stars on his line Johnny got 99pt and Monahan was still good with 82 pts. Both were better than him
I don’t consider his last year 64 point was any good but he played partly with Huberdeau and Toffoli
Lindholm needs better line mates to carry him to produce. That’s not even debatable

If Monahan is a star then so is Lindholm.

I wouldn't call him a star but he had 2 30 goals seasons and 2 27 goal seasons under his belt at the time, and proven chemistry with Johnny. Guys like Hudler and Ferland popped with them and Lindholm took off as well.
Lindholm needs to be surrounded by a great cast to get the most out of him as he cannot carry his own line which is what you would like from your #1C.
Probably why we need to bottom out and give ourselves the best shot we can to get that guy, which is through the draft.

Contract negotiations with Lindholm were suspended. He no longer has a reason to care how the Flames fare.
You could argue that it will impact his next contract. Will it? Whatever minor impact it has, he will still make enough money to be comfortably wealthy for the rest of his life.
Huberdeau? He’s stuck here for many years to come. He should call Lucic and ask how to sort out the not meeting his contract blues and how to get going.
Sharangovich was just getting going with that line. Pretty good idea to bump him down. His agent should publicly announce a trade request soon to stay on board with his teammates.

Well he is on pace for 45 points and 10 goals.
So that is going from 42 to 22 to 10. I think that would have major implications on his next contract.
If he keeps it up all season, not just his point totals but looking like he has mailed it in he is going to get a show me deal for 1 year.

Ok whatever. 2 guys that are as good or better than him.
If they pay Lindholm 9M, they better save some money to find another 9M player to help him since he can’t help himself now

Yeah Lindholm is starting to cost himself some serious money. As in generational wealth kind of money.

What? This is so wrong. Lindholm having a poor season in the final year of his contract will absolutely cost him a lot of money. Teams aren't going to watch him get 10-15 goals and 40-45 points and go "meh, whatever let's not worry about that and still offer $9milAAV.

Pretty crazy... If he finishes the year at sub 60 points, my guess is his offers will be less than half of what Calgary's rumored offer was. Thank god

I don't think it will be half because that would mean its less than he is making, but I am seriously wondering if he has to sign a 1 year deal somewhere to try and get his career back on track.
This is one of the biggest bag drops ever.
Reminds me of Dennis Schroder on the Lakers declining a 4 year 80 million deal because he wanted 100 and went to free agency and signed for 1 year and 3 million with Boston. He will never see that money again.
Thankfully Lindholm was being greedy with us, could you imagine crippling the franchise with a another boat anchor putting up 45-60 points for the next 8 years.

His defensive game is also very overrated. He was propped up by Tkachuk and Gaudreau who did the majority of the heavy lifting for that line.
He's also been losing a lot of key faceoffs especially on the power play. Lindholm absolutely has been terrible and I agree we need to trade him and get a haul as we rebuild this thing.
As a C he needs to carry his line and he can't. He's a good player but not a 8 million player let alone his ask of 9.5 a year. Like you said he will be turned into a winger on the team he goes too. I don't ever recall Bergeron being talked about as a winger and theh aren't really close either he's not Bergeron lite.
|
Question. If he’s horrible. How do we get a haul?

Act immediately once he has a good game, just like Zadorov’s agent
