If there’s lots of interest a late 1st and a 5th can be bettered.

He’ll get a late 2nd and a C prospect though.

He is the 5th dman on a 30th place team and is UFA wanting a big deal with term...let's not get crazy. Flames paid a 3rd when he was RFA

Zadorov isn't worth a first. If that offer is on the table, take it and laugh. Trade away Zadorov, Hanifin, and Tanev, and put Kleinburg in a position to thrive. If be excels, he might be worth flipping or just let him walk.

That would be a steal for the Flames.

But Kli g erg is a cap dump, so that should be increasing the return. If the Leafs tried to move him on his own, they probably have to gine up a 2nd

I think it's a fair.return, but not a steal

If the Leafs had cap space you wouldn't take the 1st/5th straight up? If that's the Zadorov return we can get four 1sts with these UFAs.

The Leafs are all in this season. If the wizard thinks Zadorov is the missing piece to glue things together, we will probably overpay.

Instead of the 5th rounder, would be better to get a prospect already in the Leafs system. A lower tier guy like Abruzzese or Tverberg.

If the Leafs had cap space, they wouldn't be offering a 1st/5th along with a cap dump. They'd be offering something like a 2nd for Zadorov straight across.

They only need to move him to get Zadorov though

Sure, but you were saying something about taking a 1st and 5th for Zadorov without a cap dump. That's never going to be the offer, unless the entire Maple Leafs front office is partying on a kilo of dumb dust.

I'm afraid I'm not quite getting what your point is.

Enoch said Klingberg is a cap dump, so the Leafs should be increasing the return.

We all agree that Klingberg is a cap dump.

You and I agree that the return would be something like a 2nd without including a cap dump.

So, I think you and I would also agree that the Leafs already did increase the return if this Klingberg/1st/5th rumor is true.

Ah! Gotcha now.

So we agree.

That's no fun. What shall we argue about now?

Maybe Calgary throws in a 2024 3rd and that 5th becomes Nick Robertson.

To TOR
Zadarov
2024 3rd

To Cal
Klingberg
Robertson
2024 1st

Anything you like! I wish arguing didn't have a negative connotation. I find it fun.

Toronto needs D, G and (in my opnion) a LW who can play with Matthews and Marner. Everyone now knows that Huberdeau can't be "the guy" but he can certainly be the "the accessory" on a line with those two.

Leafs with Zadorov added to their current D corps (nothing taken away, Kilngberg obv won't be missed), and experienced starting goalie (Markstrom) in net and a new top line of Huberdeau Matthews Marner. That could be their best shot at a cup in decades.

Plus, Nylander's a UFA at the end of the year, so TO's gonna have to move something regardless. Whether it's someone else to make cap space or Nylander himself.

Spoiler!

If I were Huberdeau, as bad as it is here with the press and the way he's playing, I can only imagine how bad it would be in TO if he doesn't get his game together there. However, it is the Eastern Conference where we hear his game is more suited, maybe he thinks it is worth a shot.

I just view Toronto as one of the very few teams that would see some value in Huberdeau. In terms of waiving to go there... it's back east and it's the GM that signed him in the first place.

It's a stretch for sure, buuuut... who knows? lol.

Plus I bet Lindholm clicks better with fellow countryman Nylander.

Nylander will click with anyone. Can't see any way Toronto would trade Nylander when they probably won't get another shot with these four.

He doesn’t have a nmc. Do you want to play in nhl or ahl? Easy to get him to waive. Or you put him on waivers.
