Awards and Off-season Stuff

First just wanted to say thanks to our GMs and former agents for a great season. It was a season of change on many levels but still a really fun year - and I hope you all enjoyed it as well.

The off-season now starts, but we need a couple of days before we will start processing deals. We'll fire the start gun officially off in a day or two here.

A few other comments:
- When trading keep in mind you are risking that player change with the re-rates. Buyer beware.
- The sim did its usual re-rate thing after the last game. Ignore it. Those ratings don't matter at all.
- Start readying yourself for the draft. Its not too far away kids!
- We'll also start the salary roll overs soon.
- The web site will soon be updated with the new rules and what not.

This is mandatory for GMs. Our former agents are welcome to send in their selections as well.

Cliff Fletcher Award - Best CPHL GM Award voted on by all GMs

Gary Suter Award - An annual award "to the defenceman" who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Tim Hunter Award - Best CPHL goon award is voted on by all GMs...combo of toughness and PIM.

Sergei Priakin Award - Most underrated CPHL player voted on by all CPHL clubs.

D'arcy McGrath Award - Best Message Board poster award as voted on by all CPHL clubs.

Hakan Loob Award - an annual award given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Mike Vernon Award - an annual award given to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Lanny McDonald Award - an annual award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Sergei Makarov Award - an annual award given to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the CPHL as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Dwayne Hay Award - an annual award given to the player selected as the least effective player in the CPHL as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Roman Turek Award - an annual award given to the player selected as the most overpaid player in the CPHL as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Darryl Sutter Award - an annual award given to the GM selected as the best 1st year GM as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

Commissioners Award - To Team or GM who exceeded expectations

Playoff MVP - Best player of the 2007 CPHL playoffs.

All Rookie Team.

The Pens would like GM's to consider the following:

Lanny McDonald Award - Jason Spezza (lead the league in goals playing with new linemmates every game with all the injuries we went through)

Coach of the year - Lindy Ruff (led the Pens to the playoffs and over 100 points through all the injuries)

All Rookie Team- Chris Higgins ( had a great rookie campaign)
