It's not so much that people know Gaudreau would be part of the solution here... it's more like we know Huberdeau isn't part of the solution, and that Gaudreau is at least more than likely to be a better part of the solution than Huberdeau is.
You know Door A is the wrong door, and Door B could also be the wrong door, but could be the right door, and was once a very good door for you in the past, so you're kinda thinking it could be a good door for you again... especially since you still have a lot of the other doors that it used to be a door with... and again, Door A just is completely off the table cause you're already done with Door A... like, some days you want it to be open but it's closed, other days you want it closed tight but it's wide open... but most of the time it doesn't even think it's a door, cause it's out there trying to show everyone it's really a window.... just seems to me like I'm gonna go with Door B and see where I end up.

Johnny was a home grown star who went a point per game in roughly 600 games as a Flame. Huberdeau has been poor for his entire 90+ games in Calgary. It is all about swapping those 2 players. I don’t see anyone advocating putting a package around Hanifin/Lindholm to bring Johnny home. It is getting rid of a player who has fallen so far from grace since coming to Calgary and replacing him with a once beloved player who is the same age and plays the same position.
I do think a Johnny-Huby swap makes the team better. Not a contender but better and more enjoyable to watch.

It's been said before. To get rid of Huberdeau. We know Gaudreau can produce here and its becoming more and more real with each game that Huberdeau may just not.
Nobody realistic is asking for him back expecting him to be the answer.

Huberdeaus biggest contribution last night (potentially for the season) was being benched and the Flames playing great while he sat
If you get a chance to get out of any part of that contract you run for the phone to confirm the trade

Gaudreau wasn't the answer before and he won't be again.
Lets not forget the he's been figured out for 2 years while he was playing like crap and a ghost most night, but some people claim he was electric nightly. Invisible in most of his playoff appearances.
Or the changing of coaches to get more out of this core and get Johnny going again.

It being his wife's choice has already been refuted by someone with actual sources. Long ago. Why are you pushing so hard to resurrect this false narrative?

lol. She definitely wanted Calgary with the Jersey area being last on the list. Johnny's family is large and very close when they're together, and Johnny has a massive circle of friends that love to party. People always around.
In Calgary she had Johnny alone and loved it and the city.

Who? My source was Frank Seravalli who confirmed what I said, what insider on this board has a better rep than that? He literally confirmed publically about how Gaudreau was intent on signing, his wife wanted to discuss it more, they went for a car ride, and she changed his mind. It's been confirmed ding dong, back to your hole troll. I also had confirmation from another source who just might be a family member that we sometimes see post on social media. There is zero doubt his wife and her family pressured him into moving back East. There is a reason why BT looked shell shocked when he announced he wasn't coming back, he had told him that day and his agent he was coming back. Do you truly believe if his new wife who was expecting and the new most important thing in his life wanted him to sign in Calgary he would say no? Use your head.

Yeah, weird that the publicly released info has been forgotten lol
“I don’t even think it was Johnny. I don’t think Johnny had any issue coming back. I think he wanted to come back,” Seravalli said. “In fact, not to relitigate this again, but the Flames the day before thought that he was coming back. There was an afternoon sort of buzz and spring in everyone’s step as the hours dragged on before free agency where they thought they were getting him back. They had negotiated the contract, gotten to where everyone was comfortable with numbers, and then Johnny Gaudreau went on a car ride with his wife and then called the Flames back tearfully and said, ‘sorry, I can’t do this’.”

Why are the wannabe insiders so aggressive? You don’t get to play coy about your “sources” (that you’re old enough to remember used to need to be vetted before posting alleged inside info) and then get sassy when people have different information or don’t take your unsubstantiated info as gospel. Lighten up Francis

While I don't have an opinion on this either way, what Frank says here is clearly presented as an opinion and therefore not a fact. We aren't privy to what happened in that car ride. It could've been Johnny with the change of heart regardless of what his wife wanted.

My grain of salt connection said that Guy really wanted Johnny to sign back in Calgary once they gave him that offer. All about the legacy he could have cemented
