At one point, Carolina liked him enough to draft him 5th overall and it seems like they trade for every d-man. Could be a destination?

Jason Gregor thinks the Lighting will add a D. Not too sure what they have to offer though.

They are already trying to move a dman because they have too many.

If you can get a blue chip prospect like Johnson or Guenther for Lindholm or Hanifin, you should take it even without an additional 1st round pick. That’s the Nieuwendyk/Iginla trade.
A single blu chip prospect is way better than a package of draft picks.
For guys like Johnson and Guenther, I’d even send a conditional 2nd realized only if Lindholm/Hanifin don’t extend.

And zero cap space, which is the problem with most contenders.

I agree but I it’s also why I think it harder to pull off. I suspect blue chip prospects are more valuable to teams than picks, unless you’re looking at a draft like last year and have a relatively high pick.
If the Flames can get prospects of that calibre, I suspect that’s what they’ll put a preference towards. Hard to get other teams to part with them though. I could see the Jackets dangling their first over Johnson.

So can’t see Arizona trading Armstrong picks. But ones made by Chayka are probably available. So Hayton and Soderstrom might be good targets.

Good targets for who, Arizona?

I wonder if Kaapo Kakko could be available. I know the Rags wanted to stick with him but he's been struggling and recently demoted to bottom 6. I wonder if a change of scenery would help. He's bigger, can skate, and with Conny looking to find someone to fit with Huby. Rags don't seem like they would be a great trade partner so maybe a third team would be needed for it to work.

far more likely the Flames trade with teams in the east unless there is a deal in the west they can't refuse

Because he’s younger and the cap is going up. Weegar’s $’s a low because of term.

Now that I think about it, Edmonton's D structure will be much worse for Jacob than what he's dealt with here. Not too concerned that it would burn us. And that's no slight on him. No goalie would do well there.
Only issue is cap would have to be going the other way.
The Oilers have zilch for space. Maybe foegele and some minor retention on Markstrom? I just want that 1st because it could actually be a higher one.

I can see Tanev as a player they would like to add. However, as others have mentioned. Salary Cap.

They don't have much to offer, but I would take Isaac Howard or Ethan Gautheir. But pickings be slim!
Their next first is 2026.
Don't know how to make the cap work but by the deadline it could be easier.

Yeah, after my post I looked at what they have and their draft picks are also slim pickings!

But I think this is Toronto just spitballing. Klingberg is scratched because he's sucked.
