We’ll go on a run in March and April and shoot right up the standings to finish 4 points out of the playoffs.
This team doesn’t have enough of a commitment to anything to suck for a whole season.

I love college hockey the way some love college football. Watching BU because they are loaded with talent, but also played vs UMass and Suniev this weekend.
The U18s have a college series, playing 6 or 7 NCAA teams throughout the year. Saw Eiserman play against BU two weeks ago, and vs Cornell last week.
All these games have been on ESPN+

They're so ungodly terrible that I don't see any way they finish mid pack this year. This is a bottom 3 team in the league, based on what we've watched.

While this obviously sucks this might be the most necessary development for the Flames franchise is decades. The boat anchor contracts will continue to provide negative value and push this team deeper down the standings only ensuring that Lindholm and Hanifin do not re-sign and we find some residual value from those players. The rebuild will be thrust onto this management group whether they like it or not. This team needs a complete and total tear down. There is nothing worth holding on to.

Not as good as 2023 but better than most
3 potential franchise forwards then a run of six or more dmen with #1 upside
The top end is above average in my opinion

I don't love Sam as a prospect expert but here's an early look at the draft:

Lots of talk about Celebrini and Eiserman but not enough buzz about Demidov. You have the Russian factor but I don't think he has the contract complexities that Michkov has. Silayev is also another Russian with immense upside (and he's immense himself).
Really strong draft on the blueline.
Top 2 pick: you get a preimium forward.
top 10 pick: Couple high end forwards still in play, and then take your pick from a bevy of really good D prospects.
Lots to like and be excited about if this season continues as bad as this.

Cole Eiserman (ranked #2 by many, where the Flames would currently pick) has 27 goals in only 17 NTDP and USHL games. That's honestly pretty stinking good. Those leagues have similar NHLes to the QMJHL I believe.
