Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal.

From his blog:

What else? My dream-first choice- hero of mine - actor wants to do the next film I’m set to direct, “Open Hearts”, but I don’t think I’m gonna be able to direct it this summer as I had hoped since I’m due to be back at Scrubs on August 1st. That is- if we come back. NBC has yet to renew us… They have until 5/15, so cross your fingers. Now that I signed up for another year, I got all excited about doing it and then here we are on 4/26 and still no pick-up from the network.

They may get picked up by ABC if NBC doesn't. They are produced by Buena Vista. I really wished Arrested Development would have been picked up as well.

Zach Braf has a new movie coming out called The Ex that looks really good.

And so no one can accuse me of being off topic:

Jason Bateman from Arrested Devlopment stars with Zach Braff in The Ex who starred with Kerri Russel in a few episodes of Scrubs who starred with Nathan Filion in Waitress who starred in Firefly.

See.. Right on topic.

I was just flipping around and noticed that Fillion (the best thing to come out of Edmonton since Highway 2 South) is going to be on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight.

Basically, not all of it was.

The border worlds in the star system where Firefly and Serentiy take place were all very primitive colonies. Basically the Alliance sent ships there with the bare necessities and then forgot about them so they had to fend for themselves so they had a strange mix of futuristic and old-time technologies.

I thought the series and movie were just plain genius.

I know it is not likely anymore but I still hope every day that we will get Firely back.

Interesting tidbit:

On TV.com, according to user ratings Firefly is the 5th best TV show ever and 1st among Sci-Fi shows!

Cool.

And if I recall correctly - you are a fan of Friday NIght Lights. It has been renewed.

<--- Look at my avatar.

Yeah, loved the show, and only watched it on DVD. It was also the #1 bestselling DVD on Amazon for quite awhile. It might make sense to produce a second season just to capitalize on people buying the DVDs. Joss is sitting on a potential gold mine, the TV execs just don't realize it.

Hot Dang!

Kudos to NBC for sticking with a great show that isn't performing in the ratings - that's unusual nowadays.

Folks - do yourself a favor and watch this show if they rerun the season over the summer.

They realize it. It's why they made the movie, but Joss Whedon will never work with Fox again, and Fox won't sell the rights, so it'll go no where.

Saw Nathan Fillion last night on Craig Ferguson. Had never heard of him or the show you guys are talking about until browsing this thread yesterday, just a few hours before I watched the Late, Late Show. Weird!

Anyway, I'm interested now. What a charasmatic guy

Should definitly try to pick up the DVD set Dis.. I've seen it go for 20 bucks at Wal-Mart at times.. it's fantastic, well acted, great stories, great characters.

It's amazing how many people love it, and didn't have a clue it was on.

It really is amazing. My wife and I have been "browncoats" since the show was first on the air. It was far and away the best thing on television that season--and was the perfect example of how the cream doesn't always rise to the top in TV-Land.

As I recall, it was outperformed in ratings that season by another Fox drama called "John Doe"--a totally idiotic show about a guy who can't remember who he is.

Well now, neither can we--and we all have Firefly on DVD. Nice going, Fox.

I'm thinking we should do a Calgarypuck FireFly watch.. watch one Episode a week, dedicate one night a week to watch said Episode and talk about it like it's new.. we never got that chance when it was on.. it would be fun and interesting to do.

I'd be into that! Sounds like fun. My wife and I have been pondering re-watching those anyway.

With all of this talk, I've been wanting to re-watch the series, also.
