This is what happens when you build a team around a bunch of mercenaries who only care about getting their fat retirement contracts. Exact same issues that were popping up during the team's last desperate attempts at trying to build a veteran team around Iggy and Kipper. But where those guys were able to be traded off due to being on short-term deals, we've now got the same problem but with guys on massive, long-term deals that other organizations will avoid like nuclear waste, and apparently they're looking to add one or two more to the list.

I don't even know what you can do at this point. It's grim.

Tanev - UFA
Hanifin - UFA
Lindhllm - UFA

Kadri - On ice performance likely means he's not happy.
Huberdeau - On ice performance likely means he's not happy.

The approach coming into this season was always going to have a short runway. They banked on Sutter being the single biggest problem with the team, and brought back a nearly identical roster (although, less skilled thanks to the Toffoli trade...and they were already lacking skill).

The Flames need to straighten things out ASAP, otherwise this will snowball. It was always going to be this way this season. Get a good start, or buckle up for some problems.

Call me crazy but I have actually been happy with Lindholm's play so far this year.

He is not one of the on the ice problems IMO.

Could be wrong but didn't Lucic allude to similar problems with the team last year?

This is the one I remember from last year:

https://twitter.com/user/status/1626699254071808001

Kadri was performing up to that point, and he calls out that they weren't playing as a team and needed to begin to do so.

So now another bunch of months later, and we have another player discussing how they're not playing as a team.

Where the !@#$ is the leadership on this team?

I'm not sure. The condition on the 1st in the Monahan trade makes it even harder.

The Flames could trade the UFAs this deadline and then Weegar and Andersson in the offseason and have the worst defense in the league. Then trade Mangiapane, Dube, and Backlund as well and its a bottom 5 roster.

However, you need to Florida to not suck this year or next.

That's a pretty surprising comment from someone who was the face of not playing a team game.

I don't think Huska is a soft coach, he just maybe comes off that way with his manner of speaking and smile.

Andersson considered him a a hardass in the AHL.

You can also watch his presser the other day when asked about Hanifin's 600 games and he pivots to criticizing him.

I like Zadorov. When watch the game, I wonder why some players just standing there in D zone waiting the puck comes and I thought they were told to do that. But I see Coronato, Duehr trying to help Ds and punished at the blue line.
