it may have looked good on paper but why did bt have to rush, maybe i don't understand how restricted free agent works could we have waited a bit? i thought rfa gives the team some power.
Can we really say it was a good trade?

It is better than last year, that was a tough year. Bad coaching, bad playing. Still early this year but that is about the only silver lining, better than the poorly coached group from last year.

The coaching is as bad, if not worse this year.

He specifically wanted to go to Florida, and was becoming a UFA within 1 year. I sincerely doubt waiting would have resulted in a better trade.

Maybe, last year was one of the most poorly coached teams I can remember. Just awful.

They got beat many teams do get over it. It's game 6.
Talking about the locker room being kumbaya because a toxic coach was punted yeah great contribution.
Most ridiculous thing I've seen people like you and Austin NHL Gullfoss actively cheering for the team to fail because some hasbeen got fired.
You guys ruin the game threads just like last year.

Not even in the bottom half of the last 10 years of Flames coaching.

Where have they been actively cheering for the team to lose?

No matter how you spin it, the trading and signing of Huberdeau for 10M/8 yrs and the signing of Kadri will cripple the franchise for years to come
It’s historically bad… wizardry stuff

i don't like this trade i don't get that it was the best option for such a sought after player, i don't get why it had to happen so quickly. of course i have no idea what offers were there so i can only speculate. Maybe there was nothing else.

Put me on your ignore then. I've been mostly ignoring your posts until you call me out by name as it's not worth the effort.

I agree it wasn't good but how did Conroy think if he still wanted to try and win with this group that he would go to the bargain bin for the coach to get this team winning again? He was clear he wanted a coach that would be more creative offensively and then he hires our assistant coach known for thinking defence first and that forwards have always struggled under when he has been a head coach? It isn't like the guy was some young hot shot coach who had accomplished a lot, it was just a really poor hire.

The trade it self was ok, it was the signing of Hubredeau that was the real mistake.
But there were plenty of reports that the number of teams that Tkachuk was willing to go to was small and the returns from some of them, St. Louis in particular was weak.
Who knows what to believe but in terms of reported returns only the Carolina deal around Necas appears to have been better.

well apartmently the huby trade was a good trade. I'm thinking keeping chuck, taking the chance and even losing him to ufa would have us in a better position , 10m$/year available and not stuck in contract.
but we all wanted a big trade. hindsight something

The mistake was not moving Huberdeau for young pieces and then trading a 1st to get Kadri. A world where they moved Huberdeau for two good prospects and another 1st and keep Monahan and do not sign Kadri and that trade and the future looks a lot better. The Flames would have two more prospects, two more 1sts and 17.5 million in cap room in that scenario.

Florida has other pieces. Treliving wanted Huberdeau and he had to sign him to save his ass. Huberdeau is the bad fit but Treliving only counts bean so what does he know?

How many points they on pace for this season? 68
How many did they get last year? 93
And they had terrible goaltending last year and two star players who weren't engaged for half the season.
I think that's a sign of how good the coaching was last year. The roster sucks bro
