Dirty and unnecessary hit. But I like to see the emotion. All too often this team goes quietly into the night. Hopefully the hit sends a messsge to the Flames players that’s its ok to actually be angry about losing.

Holy crap, do we have the full figure skating club posting about the hit here. My lord it’s a clean hit, there is contact in hockey. These types of hits happen in most games. It was highlighted because of the time remaining in the game and because Laine was trying to turtle by falling backwards.

Laine bailed on the hit and is already going down which definitely plays a factor in the outcome. Shouldn’t be more than a fine, worst case a game. Knowing the NHL and the DOPS and their consistency of being inconsistent, I’m expecting two games.

I think it’s a factor. If you’ve played the game you can probably relate more to an emotionally charged play, how quickly things happen etc… Someone that can’t even skate probably doesn’t have the same level of understanding.

There’s a comment earlier in this thread that basically said “just don’t hit someone in the head … it’s actually pretty easy not to” That comment would be made by someone that has never played the game. Actually in many scenarios it’s pretty hard not to and anyone that has played the game would know that
