It's a middling team.

The kind that won't provide any sustained satisfaction or enjoyment. 1 step forward, 2 steps back, and so forth..

Only following from a distance has been a wise choice I think. It's not worth the 3 hours in front of the TV until the group takes a meaningful step and finds chemistry that can carry over between games. Until then, not much point getting too high or too invested in the games.

Hopefully Savard can pull another gear out of these big contract forwards. It's the only way anything will change.

Still overall an OK start to the season. Would have liked to see them beat a bad team but can’t be too upset. Need to have some reasonable expectations.

Probably Kadri's best game of the season.

Overall the teams forward lines are starting to build some chemistry and IMO seem to be generating more each game (even if the puck didn't go in tonight).

Win on Sunday and you will be 3-2-1 after the first 6 games with 5 of those on the road. I'll take that start.
I saw a team that looked like they had a lot more chemistry and confidence in the 3rd.

Unfortunate loss but it's also due to missing the net but that's a good thing as well. It's means we are getting in the areas to create those opportunities.

Once they start rolling they should start scoring.

The start reminds me of the 18/19 team you saw flashes but it just wasn't clicking and after Pittsburgh spanked us we ran away with it.

49 points last year, 50 the year before. Not an outrageous cap hit. Acceptable on both ends. Someone will bite.

I think he's good, and we're better with him than without him, but he's too slow on the point.

Excellent post, and I agree.

This team will continue to search for chemistry though without guys that can put the puck in the net.

Because we need him. He could play on any team in the league.

If you want to trade the pending UFAs, there's certainly an argument to be made for doing that. Andersson is not in that group.

Sunday's game makes or breaks the trip...longest of the season

Nice if they could get it out of the way that early while still having a decent record

It was a good game and the better team didn't win, but the narrative didn't feel like last year. Lots of moving parts. Lindholm became so dynamic there.

Fair enough. I'm just of the mind that nothing is sacred

Have they played a single playoff team yet? They're 0.500 against a collection of teams that all missed the playoffs last year.

It's early to judge the quality of team, but I don't think the 0.500 stat is positive.

I don't know people were pretty high on the Sabres and Penguins this past summer.

Starting with the longest road trip of the season is tough...Sunday makes or breaks the trip IMO. Team obviously needs to keep improving.

Lindholm never was a 35-40 goal scorer without Gaudreau/Tkachuk. I'd give him $9M like I'd give my first born to a bum outside the hospital.

Let's get this franchise right again. Huberdeau and Kadri already look like shackles, I can't stomach $27M+ on those 3 combined.

I'd feel raped if I was the Flames franchise.

This is stupid. We have a goaltender now. That alone makes the team twice as good.

The Columbus team is the second youngest in the league. This was a prime opportunity for our “offensive talent” to show up. However 3 things stand out. Lack of finish like last year. Making no name goalies look great. See thing one. And finally the pair of hanifin and Anderson. I think those two have gone stale. Hanifin is playing like he wants out and doesn’t want to get the flames a good haul. Sadly these issues are very close to last years issues. Sigh.

Kadri isn’t a top line player. And we don’t have a top line finisher. This team will struggle.

What’s the over under on team goals for this group? O/U 225?

Andersson is one of our best possession players.

But if he gets a game, Poirier is lighting up the AHL.

Why is it that the negative people think anyone wants to hear what they have to say?

The first 15 - 20 posts are awful and it's those people that feel that need to chime in first.

There should be a 24hr rule here.

I thought they played a decent road game but lacked some finish and had some bad puck luck. But overall, I feel things are much better.

So far I think the Flames have looked pretty good for a team that just went through a complete coaching/systems overhaul.

The 2-2-1 start is better than I expected and Markstrom has been excellent. If they can find a way to get some more offence, they'll be a tough team to play.

Not so sure that is an appropriate comparison.

To me it seems like a lot guys going through the motions. Hanifin most glaringly but same can be said about all of the top guys. Nobody is willing to take the lead and go through the wall, just doing their job. It just seems like a weird dynamic on the ice.
