That wouldn't matter to the Oilers. They could waive him to the AHL, not play him or even put him on LTIR. I can see this becoming a pretty big storyline developing over the next few games if he continues to not contribute offensively.

I honestly think this is by design. Oilers are betting that their stars will score more often on odd man rushes than their opponents will.

And with McDrai it’s probably a good bet. But that requires their goalies bailing them out on a consistent basis which isn’t happening because E=NG

If Draisaitl walks in free agency after next season, they are toast. This era of the Oilers will be remembered for squandering the prime years of one of the best pure talents to ever play... that makes me happy.
