They did that on the last play of the 1st half ang got stuffed.
That Oline has 4 replacements on it.
Throwing to your 6'6" TE is the right call...just not executed well.

Also there was clear pass interference that the officiel turned a blind eye to. I would never normally feel sorry for the Giants but the Bills got away with a lot of pass interference in this one. Still poor game management at the end of the first half cost them the win ultimately.

Obviously a field goal at the end of the half, and the Giants are either kicking a field goal to win, or tie since Buffalo would have gone for 2 after making it 13-12.
But what's the thought on Seattle with around 2:20 left down 4 going for it with two timeouts on 4th and goal from the 7th? You get it and Cinci will be more aggressive when they get the ball back down and needing to score. Kick the field goal and they likely play it much the same as they did where the Seahawks got the ball back 20 seconds later and now need the field goal to win.
I'm sure analytics says to go for it. But seems like I've seen enough of these games where teams could have kicked two easy field goals to win instead of losing by 4.

Another thing in comparing the two Conferences. The AFC went 6-0 head to head with the NFC yesterday with the AFC teams having all home games. After the early slate last week NFC held a 10-7 advantage. AFC have won the last 9 and are up 16-10 on the season now. It was looking early like the NFC might have the edge, but the AFC starting to look like the stronger Conference that many thought it was.

As the old Chinese proverb says "When you can turn a one score game into a one score game with only two minutes left, you gotta do it". You could just as easily argue that reducing it to a one point game is also more likely to make Cincinnati be more aggressive, as giving the ball back up 1 is close to 60% WP for Seattle, whereas up 4 is 80% WP for Cincy.

You gotta go for it. By your logic, if you miss it down 4, Cincinnati will be even less aggressive and you get the ball back anyways.

It’s funny the Ravens - one of the best analytical teams in the league historically - went against the analytics Sunday morning on a few calls and kicked FGs
Their execution in those close analytical decisions was terrible in their 2 losses earlier in the season and probably cost them both games , so they went to safe route Sunday Vs the long term smart math route
Will be interesting to see how they trend the rest of the season

Doing the statistically prudent thing is always the best course of action, but you do sometimes have to adjust for circumstance. The Titans are not good, so kicking FGs might be technically wrong by analytics, but using opponent adjustments it's much more understandable. I have no doubt if the Ravens were playing a top offensive team they would have been more aggressive.

They “went for it” Vs Indy with a backup QB and Pitts
Not exactly powerhouse offences

Patriots have scored 20 points in 3 games. Only team to be held under 20 in every game.
Bills coaching resume as a head coach without Tom Brady is not very good.

It's not just his coaching but his talent evaluating especially on the offensive side of the ball leaves a lot to be desired. When's the last time they had players on offense that scared anyone? The roster in general just isn't that talented. You can kind of see why all his assistants have failed at their own HC gigs when he can't even stay afloat without Brady.

Starting to look like that.
Charlie Weiss, Romeo Cernell, Matt Patricia, Bill O'Brein, Josh McDaneils, the spygate guy on the Jets forgot his name.
Just a terrible coaching tree.

Belichick was (and still is) a great defensive coach, that just happened to land the GOAT as his QB which masked a lot of his problems as an offensive coach over the years.
Even with Brady I think you could say they never really had the most talented offense at the key skill positions of RB and WR, maybe just that Randy Moss season.
But they generally had a strong defense, offensive line, and Brady.
So now they still have a pretty good defense, but they have no QB, the offensive line isn't very good, and they still don't have very good skill at the skill positions.
It really ended up being a perfect match. Brady was good enough (with a strong offensive line) to carry the offense, and Belichick would give him a good defense.

I've said it before but I absolutely hate that stupid ineligible player down field rule. They really need to get rid of that crap because it ruins the game.

Chargers need a new HC and OC. Truly terrible play calling.
