5 goals and 114 PIM last year. Yay.

not to be a Debbie Downer, but it pisses me off that even in 2023 the Flames still feel they need to waste a roster spot for a player of this particular profile. Oh well.

114 PIMs in 60 games last season. Truculence!! Haha. I like it. We don't have a player like him in our lineup.

I think lots of people underestimate how big of a jump it is from the AHL to the NHL.

Klapka had 0.46 PPG in the AHL last season. Greer put up 0.98 PPG his last full season in the minors. He also brings over 100 games of NHL experience.

Not hard to see why Huska would prefer him over Klapka.

Re: the cmpdave quote above, feels like home team fans always complain about losing one of their own regardless of performance. Pens fans were upset they lost Zohorna originally and he was about as close to useless as possible.

Picking him up doesn't imply he will be used every night. But you'll always have those games with the potential to get heated/scrappy, and it's good to have a player like that on hand.

As long as he can play, too.

xG% of 56% last year. He seems to mostly have a positive impact on the ice. That said, I expect his finishing ability to be similar to Nordstrom(non existent).

I don't see how anyone can be disappointed by this. If he doesn't play well he will be waived/sitting as the 13th forward.

Given that we drafted big guys in the recent draft, seems to be a trend developing. Size matters to the new regime.

This isn’t a fair assessment of Greer’s play at all.

Yes he will fight and do whatever it takes to stay in the line up, but in addition to size and strength he is also a great skater. Will be good on the forecheck and can get under player’s skin.

Fans will like his game.

Look at the size of the past 2 cup winners....even back to the Blues win.

Its a trend for sure.

Also if the plan is to get Ruzicka going, centering Greer & Duehr probably isn't going to do it.

Players with his profile who can skate and agitate will always have value in the NHL.

I have a hard time believing that a guy who was more or less a regular on a 135 pt regular season juggernaut can't find a role here over the Cole Schwindt's/Adam Klapka's of the world.

It's a nothing move at worst and you just found a serviceable 4th liner for free at best. It's a fine move.

Pretty sure the plan is to play him at wing in the top 9. They've been looking at other options for the 4C spot all camp.
