I've done work with them, but it was a situation where I was hired as a contractor by a large company and CNC was brought in by the employer to manage my contract. Fine company, no complaints, but I have no experience with them in a standard recruitment capacity.

I used them for awhile, they set me up for one interview.

There were a few things I noticed about them:

- Since they get a cut of whatever job they land you, they will push you maybe too much into a job that you might be hesitant about.

- However, the one lady I dealt with was pretty good, she was very professional, very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions.

- If they do set you up with an interview, they give you a lot of really good information before hand on how to prepare yourself. That was the best thing I got out of them. Actually, I still have the documents if anyone wants them

I didn't end up getting the job I interviewed for, way too underqualified, but I knew that going into it. It was a good experience though.

Top Shelf - You said, they took a cut? Are you saying, for the entire duration of your contract? Or was it just a one-time "pay-out" that the company paid CNC? I've heard of some places which get a percentage of your earnings for your duration... which frankly, sucks.

For contract work it is standard operating procedure for the contracting company to take a piece of what the employer is paying out for your services.

They're your pimp so they get their cut.

If the same recruiting firm places you in a permanent position, what happens then?

I had dealings with CNC global a few years ago, they called me out of the blue on a reference and recruited me for one of thier clients on a permanent role.

They did a decent enough job in prepping me for the interviews, and thier follow up was good.

On a permanent job, they'll charge a client fee based on a percentage of what your yearly salary would be, but that dosen't effect you.

so for example, lets say that your worth about $10.00 a year, they'll charge the client 25% of $10.00 or $2.50, but you still get paid the $10.00

Beware of the fine print in the contract you sign with them...my cousin got into trouble with them after he signed on full-time where CNC had placed him as a contractor (CNC threathened to withhold a months worth of salary as "compensation" - nothing a letter from his lawyer didn't fix, but still)
