If Huberdeau and Lindholm aren’t meshing, then you find them teammates that do.

Huberdeau - Backlund - Sharangovich
Mangiapane - Lindholm - Dube
Coleman - Kadri - Coronato
Hunt - Ruzicka - Duehr

Someone at the office mentioned Vladar was terrible. Were some of the goals stoppable?

It was not a great night for him. Defensive zone coverage was sketchy, but there were probably two or three that he would ordinarily have stopped.

Vladar gave one to McDavid on a silver platter. And outside of that he was still bad. I think it was 4.55 xGA.

I wonder if Pettersson will get into any NHL games this year? I thought he had a really good showing last night, and has looked solid all through camp.

He finished with 18 minutes, but had the highest ice-time of any forward (either team), until it was 7-2, midway through the 3rd. He basically never played after that

If he had 18 mid-way through the third, he likely would have ended up around 21 minutes.

Far less that the 30 minutes per game routinely thrown around here.

He averages 22 minutes a game.

It won't increase. Lindholm wants to sign before the season starts

And if he doesn't sign?

As he gets closer to the trade deadline, and unsigned player (assuming he is good of course) has exceptional leverage, and his team will either need to sign him, trade him for the best offer as a rental, or walk him to UFA.

His value this season to the team will not exceed his asking price

Depends on your lens, really

McDavid had the puck in the dead puck zone, in tight, and McDavid put it up over his shoulder and under the bar. When Johnny won game 7, it was a brilliant shot. But in this case, it happened to the Flames, so it was stoppable.

He also handled the puck on the 6th goal against and passed from the bottom of the circle to De Simone who couldn’t accept the pass in the slot, that went to McDavid on the boards who sent it to Kane in front of the open net while Vladar tried to get back to the net. Very Mike Smith like. Not stoppable, per se, but based on a bad pass and avoidable

Other than that, it was really an NHL team against an AHL team

2 goals were passed from behind the goal line and one timers from undefended shooters at the hash marks.

1 was a clear breakaway, well placed shot inside the blocker side post

1 was basically where the puck was in front of Vladar, McDavid out reached a Flames D and poked the puck to the side to Brown who shot it in, really no chance

The other one, Draisaitl shot from the top of the circle through traffic. Nicely placed shot, doubt Vladar saw it cleanly. But from where the shot came, nobody likes it.

He wasn’t terrible. At one point the Flames were up 16-12 in shots and I think that the next 21 shots were 20-1 Edmonton

Really, I am not sure what people expect when you dress an AHL roster against a NHL roster including guys who got 153 and 128 points. Some hot takes out there for sure
