I did something to my ankle. Feels like I banged it, but I have no recollection of doing so.
 Never rolled it.

Not sure why it's sore. When I run on it, it's fine until.i stop, then it hurts. Otherwise it'll only hurt if I press/rub it.

Took the last week off of running, but after tonight's short run, it's hurting again.

 Any insight?

Are you running on pavement or gravel? I always found running on gravel was problematic. I think maybe you’re still rolling it, but less obviously when you’re on a looser material.

I volunteered there as a sweep cyclist. That was incredibly difficult riding that slow while trying not to make the last runner feel like they’re going slow, but it’s hard cause you’re literally biking around in circles behind them and they actually feel bad for you and apologize, but that was my job…. I actually felt worse because they were pretty close to getting escorted by van off the course. Fortunately they just made it in time.

Pavement. I started noticing when I'd do a few minutes on the treadmill. So I stopped the treadmill. Then took the week off to let it heal.

Maybe it's an incline thing? But it just started and I've been running hills for a while.

Hmm, if I go next year I have a good chance of finishing first in the 50-54 division.

New runner here, I have a winter question for you long time runners. Basically how often do you guys run outside in the winter? I don’t really want to do a treadmill so I hope I can still run come our central Alberta winters. Is there some shoes I should be on the lookout for come snow? I have access to Saucony, Merrell and Under Armor but never paid much attention to their winter running (if any) options.

I just ran Melissa's -- my first half marathon. And the first time I'm disaapointed in my result in a race. I guess I'm a speedster not an endurance fiend. So I'll see you all next year in the punishing 10k! Moving into Sliver's division, if I'm not mistaken. Wanna race?

I run outside all winter, usually twice during the week and a long run on the weekend. I tend to run "hot" though. I run along the Bow and the paths are usually pretty clear but I take it a bit slower. When it's really cold I wear 2 pairs of socks but still just my regular running shoes. Running during the day when there's good sunlight makes a big difference. Happy to answer any other specific questions.

Thanks for the insight. I wasn’t sure if there are actual winter running shoes out there. Our town keeps are paths nice all winter so pretty safe that way. Don’t have time during the daylight so just have to bundle up. I don’t plan on going to hard in the winter but I’m starting to enjoy small runs and don’t want to stop yet. My 10 year old wants to do a 5k together so I thought I should get my lazy arse out there. Definitely starting this running thing late but it feels good

For winter running, I run in trail running shoes if I’m running on anything other than bare pavement. Makes a big difference. For socks and base layers, Ice Breakers pure Marino wool. A bit pricier, but so worth it. Keeps you warm and breathes.

If you never did the 10K before, take a little drive along the route, so the 3-5 portion doesn't surprise you. Like it did me the first time.

Hah... I've driven it, biked it, hiked it. I was walking that road the night the '04 cup was lost because I couldn't bear to be around anyone else. It is the worst!

Ran my first and possibly last ultra today. Accomplished my main goals of (A) not dying (B) finishing and (C) not last.
I think that’s it for me as at this time I’m not feeling fantastic (sore and exhausted). But I guess you never know.
