Kansas City completes the sweep. What an incredible sequence of events this weekend. If Texas can hold on its going to be a best case scenario weekend. What an odd feeling.

Hopefully Texas can hang on...9-8 now.
Then Mariners and Astros start a 3 games series tomorrow ensuring very little ground can be made up on us.

Good series win for the Jay's. Tampa always seems to find guys to step in and play well. I can't imagine any other team having that many injuries/guys who sewered their life and still being able to keep winning. Have to respect how they keep coming. But I don't know if this Ray's team will last too long in the playoffs with how thin they're stretched.

Rangers hang on to win it. Jays got 8 out of 9 possible outcomes go their way this weekend, and were 1 blown save away from getting all 9.
Perfect timing for a run of fortune like this

It's crazy to think we're here given just a week ago they got swept by Texas and thing's were not looking good. Jays just need to take care of business and prep for a wildcard series!

Jays rotation is on target to have Gausman pitch game #162 if that game is necessary to make playoffs. Hopefully it isnt, and then he'd be set as the game #1 starter.
Assuming for right now we'd play the Rays, I'd probably go,
Gausman
Bassitt
Berrios

Great win, great series. The Jays are playing their best baseball of the season, at the right time!
With 6 (home) games left, they only need 3 wins and they are in, guaranteed. And it may take less than that, depending on what the other 3 teams do.
IMO, the best case scenario is for SEA to sweep HOU. I want HOU out, and a SEA sweep would mean that the Jays could go 1-5 and still be guaranteed.

It's too bad all the AL West teams can't miss the playoffs. They're all fairly unlikable in their own way.

My sister has been crapping on him all season (for good reason) but 2 weeks ago I told her he's starting to square it up and slow his swing a bit.
She told me today I'm a genius

The Jays with a 98.3% chance of making the playoffs. Let’s get this done and maybe get some rest for key players.

A stat I saw somewhere before today's results, is that since the Texas sweep against them, there have been 30 outcomes and 21 of them have been to the advantage of the Blue Jays. That's something like a 2% probability.
Not a fan of the Rangers or Mariners, but listening to the insufferable Mariners broadcasters/cheerleaders, glad to see them swept.
Win 2 out of 3 vs Yanks and that should be that and can cruise next weekend.

The Mariners broadcasters are pretty insufferable, for sure. But of the 3 teams, I want HOU out the most. It is also the easiest path for the Jays, since they have the tiebreaker with HOU.
If SEA sweeps HOU, the Jays' magic number is 1, with 6 games remaining (plus 3 more for HOU)

Felt like it was important to finish in the third WC spot to get Minnesota and avoid the Rays/Orioles gauntlet, but with how depleted the Rays currently are, I say bring them on.
Rotation wise sets up nicely too, with how they hit Ryu and Kikuchi well this weekend. Well those two can pitch next weekend now, along with a bullpen (Jackson start?) day Sunday if we’ve clinched.
They won’t get a look at the three starters we’d want to use for the Wild card series.
And then if we got by them, probably better to face Baltimore over Texas (if they win their div) with how they manhandled us a couple weeks ago.

I would not have Ryu on the roster for a best of 3. He gives you 5 innings at best against weaker lineups, and has little bullpen value. At least Kikuchi could come out of the pen and get a couple strikeouts if needed.

I always feel like it's bad karma to try and pick your opponent. Get in, then beat whoever you face.
Yeah, Ryu won't be a starter in the playoffs. Gausman, Berrios, and Bassitt would be my guess. Kikuchi maybe (depending on opponent), but Ryu ain't happening.
