Got to think about quality of life post-tennis, too. I'm not an expert on the matter but he's done a lot of damage to his body.
He has a good chance at the French if he's in reasonable condition, but is it really worth it? His record in Paris is set in stone, probably never to be beaten, he's already one of the all-time greats. He'll never catch the runaway train that is Djokovic.

Yeah her career is done. How exactly does roxadustat get into your system accidentally? The pressure of winning and money make people take major risks and I wish more athletes would own up to getting caught as it's hard to feel bad for them when they double down and lie.

That's terrible about Simona, I always really liked her and remember being super excited for her when she won Wimbledon just a really likeable player on and off for court.
Yes this destroys her playing career but it also sadly destroys her post playing career. She could have gone on to coach, become a commentator or a tournament director. Now I don't think she can do anything in tennis after this.

Stan the Man will be even more upset as France has won both singles matches today - Mannarino defeated Stricker and Ugo Humbert was victorious over Stan.

People always say Fed played in a "weak era" but Hewitt was a heck of a player that a few years earlier beat Sampras in the final 7-6,6-1,6-1

Nalbandian was Federer's kryptonite

Isn't he the one that beat Fed, Nadal and Djokovic at the same tournament?
Also Shapo's knee is still causing issues and isn't playing today. Going to be really tough to beat Italy without him and Felix.

Galarneau is taking on Sonego as I type and Alexis is hanging in there thus far.

Sonego just played a terrific return game and breaks to serve at 4-3 in the opening set.
Edit: Alexis breaks with Sonego serving for the opening set at 5-4, we play on at 5-5

Alexis takes the opening set in a tie-break (10-8 was the tie-breaker score).

Alexis just broke and is serving at 3-2 in set 2. This would be a massive way to start this tie if he can see this through to victory.
Edit: Consolidates the break at love.

Alexis might regret that, should have been up two breaks and serving for the match.

Yeah, he had his chances, but Sonego stepped up and played some fine tennis on those break points.

Alexis one service hold away from taking the opening rubber.
Edit: Alexis had a break point to take the match and hit a forehand long, Sonego holds. Alexis serving for the match at 5-4 in set 2.
