Lewis, Lucic and Toffoli for sure. Maybe the Ritchie brothers.

Could see Tanev, Andersson, and Zadarov on the list as well.

Thought I read Zadorov said Sutter had to go or he had to go because he was not meshing with the team.
Tanev doesn't strike me as a person who would say much he seems super quiet.

That's because Tanev is a soldier.
Players of his type probably don't even acknowledge locker room drama.
He probably would approach his game the same way no matter who's in charge.
Basically your average NHLer in the 90s, but a coach's dream today with all the primadonnas out there.

Spoiler for size but I read it as he liked Sutter but other players didn’t

Sounds like Zadorov may have been pissed that guys wouldn't buy in. Makes sense.

It’s guys like Zadorov that I want here long term. He embodies the exact attitude I want in a Flames player.

Zadorov is definitely saying all the right things, and I love his attitude, transparency, and accountability in the media. I know he said he loves it here and wants to stay, but I don't think it's because of CGY, or the fans here.
In several interviews when was asked to compare Canada and the US: Z clearly prefered the US: because of taxes, healthcare, travel(wait time when crossing the border), climate, and because there's more to do.
That said, from what I understand here are his priorities when choosing a team:
1. Contending for a cup
2. Money
3. Job security - long term contract, and not uprooting his family every year.
...
...
4. Everything else
That's mostly me reading through the lines but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to stick around for a rebuild/retool(with missing the playoffs). Which is fine with me.

Healthcare is better in the US? Maybe for the wealthy, but not generally.

If you're making $3.75 million a year, the American healthcare system would certainly have its advantages.

Better for middle class people too.
Just horrific for anyone lower than that.

Debatable on middle class. I'd give you upper middle class because they should have decent health insurance through their jobs. The people making 50-60k, probably not.
When I was working in the States my co-workers were paying 400-600 per month for health insurance and then paying 3000-5000 in medical costs just to have a baby. One of the support staff making about 50k got crushed by debt after their teenage kid suffered a serious accident because they were on a lower tier of health insurance.

I read this and think how do people get by in the states. That is just medical costs on a 50K salary. Add in rent groceries etc and is the paycheque enough to cover things? You can go in to debt as well but its not like a line of credit is something you just build up they require payments as well.

The NHL pays for the best medical insurance available in the US for the players and their immediate family. I think Z was saying it would cost about $20,000 per year if it was out of pocket. The players and their families get the red carpet treatment for anything medical.

Yeah this is how I remember hearing what it is, if you are poor and without income at least have a chance at Medicaid but anyone with low income doesn't get that and can't afford Medicare and get caught in between.

I think at this point in time Zadorov could POTENTIALLY have #1 as #1, but he also strikes me as a guy who would have #3 as #1. He’s had short term deals, I bet if we offered a 5 x 5 to be our 4/5 D, I think that’s a reasonable deal. He is a special blend of big, gritty, and has some good offensive games here and there.
Everything is all speculative at this rate, but I think if I was him I’d be looking for a 4-6 year deal, 7 if someone gets nuts (not us, 4-5 is what I’d offer).

Zadorov would jump to sign a 5x5 because he’s not worth anything close to that.

Disagree. I think someone would offer him a 20-25m deal in the 4-5 year range. The cap is going up.
