This team is kind of the reverse of the 2021 team. Elite defence and pitching but instead of career years at the plate their are multiple guys with career lows. The good news is I’d rather have elite pitching and defence than hitting in the playoffs if I had to choose. The Jays history over the last 10 years kind of proves that. They have had some power house offences fall short while average hitting teams like the Royals and Braves managed to win one, obviously the hitting can pick it up though.

This team is basically the 2016 team. Average hitting with good starting pitching and defence.

The Guardians are a team built on pitching, speed, and defense first. They can't hit worth a #### and we know how bad the Blue Jays have been in clutch situations with men on base this year.
The Blue Jays are #1 in ERA at 3.72. The Guardians are #2 at 3.77. If you expected anything other than this type of baseball this series you were kidding yourself. Be happy they won the series playing that brand of ball.

I think it’s pretty close to a draw there. 111 (this year) vs 113 ERA+. And that was the one really insane year by Sanchez and Estrada and Happ were excellent. Osuna was the best he ever was and Liriano was insane down the stretch. I think this current team has the potential to be better but weirdly that year Stroman was our worst starter. Odd parallels to Manoahs struggles this year.

Gurriel is putting up way better offensive numbers than Varsho and it’s not even close.

I was going to say, the Guardians are a mediocre to bad team because they only have 2 runs themselves in 3 games. If they had a Blue Jay like offence they'd have a similar record.

Last I checked hitting isn’t the only thing a player does. But since June 1 here he has a 69 WRC and is really bad because he doesn’t have Varshos defence and baserunning. We all know what Gurriel is a guy who has a really good 4-6 weeks a year and sucks the rest of the time.

It’s a loss because of other things the assets could have got us. Not because of what we lost. Moreno is not better now than either of our catchers and Gurriel is what he is. And the all star holds little weight to me Espinal was one last year after all. I don’t think the team has handled Varsho very well. Out of spring training they were putting him in the cleanup spot which I think was a big mistake.
And sorry also just way too early to call this a loss. Last year people here declared Berrios a failure and that Kikuchi was a total bust and should be DFAd. This year they’re our number 2-3 starters and are pitching excellently. Give Varsho an offseason to settle on and I expect him to be much better next year. Also still much better than Vlad.

So, if Schneider plays they win?
Seems like an easy solution to their issues.

Maybe the Jays should keep him and DFA DeJong

Only so much Manoah can do. Jays bats need to wake up.

I love when the Jays have 2 strikes on them and don't protect the plate. Just stand there watching strike 3 go by.
