Wow that’s a big pick up. Awesome. Definitely a couple semi significant pieces going the other way, I like Robberse and Kloffenstein seemed to be figuring it out this year, however neither can throw a baseball 104 mph.

Two lottery tickets for a rental fireballer
I'll take it for sure, especially with Romano injured. The Jays needed another high leverage arm and after a rough April Hicks has been outstanding since.
Relievers can be volatile though, hopefully he shines as a Jay.
We'll get Green too soon. Crazy stuff.

That is a fantastic add. Hicks is elite when he has his command. If they add another bat I may start believing they could go deep

Ouch. Hefty price for a rental reliever (albeit a really really good one)...two of their top 10 prospects. Especially Kloffenstein who looked like he'd figured stuff out.
Lefty killing bat please (one that can play a decent corner OF would be nice).

It’s a big price but worth it just to keep him off another AL east team or the rangers

Love this add. Absolutely love it. And with green coming back hopefully we don't have to rely on Yimi in high leverage situations anymore.

May as well go all-in this year
-Springer is only getting worse
-Chapman free agent next year
-KK Free agent next year
-Rotation firing on all cylinders
-Bullpen as good as it will ever be
May as well make the push

Romano
Hicks
Green
Mayza
Swanson

Garcia
That is one nasty bullpen on paper

You also have to wonder if they bring Tiedemann up when they expand the rosters. Because he was injured for a while he won't be anywhere near his inning limit.

Yeah, the bullpens across the league aren't as good in recent years so this is a nice sudden luxury. Love that Hicks could set up Romano, which is what the plan should've been in the off-season (to get someone like that as a setup man). I don't have a complaint of the prospects given up in this case as it does seem to be par for the course for a guy like Hicks but holy hell, Atkins and Shapiro shouldn't ever have chastised Antholopolis about giving up prospects. These did exactly the same when push came to shove, only Alex got further.

Tiedemann, at least right now, is a starter. I think they’ll want him stretched out for triple A starting depth which makes sense because…well there isn’t any depth. I don’t think we see him up this year unless there is a spate of starting pitching injuries. They could try to put him in the bullpen but they really need him to be a starter next year and they could really benefit from keeping him stretched out.
Love the Hicks trade. Kloffenstein has shown that he’s back on a positive track and Robberse is a good arm but I don’t think they are likely front of the rotation guys.

I know he's a starter, and he will be for a long time most likely.
But in this case there would be no more games for him to start in the minors and expended rosters would allow the Jays to bring him up for a taste of the show as a reliever.
Long shot it happens,, especially with the depth of relievers the jays currently have, but he's a freak of nature and has the stuff to pitch to big league hitters right now, so they could do it if they wanted to.

These guys are doing it to add to a core that should be able to compete
AA tried to create a core by trading prospects

AA did it for a legitimate shot during a small window. Especially when he knew the rules of engagement from new owner Rogers.
He had a team that could compete and a manager he trusted but a small window given the owner (after failing to get additional funds in 2013 at the trade deadline, and the team sank the rest of that year) looking to make the usual xhanges after a couple years, and, playoffs were harder to make back then too. The Jays filled the stadium and had a buzz for a few years. Robbed in game 6 by a dubious Royals home run and a 8th and 9th inning changed strike zone, otherwise Jays could've very easily finished the Royals and swept through the Mets as KC did. The team was that close and that good and I think any GM would give to be in that position in the league.
Don't get me wrong this is a good addition, and if even an average Ryu comes back, Manoah doesn't get yips again with his control after the shock of sailing one off of a guy's face, and Romano is out short term.
There also does need to be an offensive jolt, and anotherleader/ vet there in some capacity may light a fire there too.
