He is Belarusian. I am sure he has a better handle on things over there than you do.

Who scores more goals next year, Sharangovich or Coronato?

I think Sharangovich will get the veteran benefit of more PP opportunity, so him.

Not by a lot, though. Both end up around 35pts.
For Coronato playing with whoever the Flames plan to barf out on the 3/4 lines, this will be ok. For Sharangovich, he'll do his best, but God help him, can't put it together despite being given all the ice time in the world because the Flames are thinner than construction paper on RW.

I could see the 5vs5 numbers of both of them being similar.

Whoever meshes with Huberdeau better. Hopefully one of them clicks

I'm not going to diss Toffoli because he's been a good player for the Flames but I would give large odds Santangovich (if only for 2 years) and Suniev (who I think will be a stud) will make everyone forget him.

This is why I love trade trees. It is always interesting to see the big picture when things are done.

He is a good utility player with some potential for more than that. I'm excited that the Flames are going a bit younger this year. I have a really good feeling about Coronato this year too.

Think about it this way. The flames just traded for Dillon Dube. Stylistically different, obviously. But production, age, small potential to pop... These are all things they have more or less in common.
How would we feel if we just traded Dube and a pick for an aging rental? Would have we been happy to send him and a third for Toffoli in the first place and kept our late first? Not me.

Dube + 3rd rounder for Brock Nelson? Very similar stats to Toffoli, though Toffoli has better possession metrics. Nelson also signed for 2 years as opposed to UFA at the end of this year, but is getting paid 6 mil/season instead of 4.25/season.

IMO, Sharangovich and Suniev for Toffoli will go down as a fantastic trade for the Flames, 3 years from now.

I was originally thinking it was bad because it wasn’t a 2nd but I do agree, it actually looks pretty good now the more I think about it. Furthermore we get the cap space.

Because all of us were speculating for the week on firsts+ for a retained Tofolli, we were setting ourselves up to be let down.
