People would support it from home with a half empty Dome. I don't support the waste of assets, because I am of the opinion that Toffoli is worth at least a couple of 2nds at the deadline.

I was actually hoping we could speed up a rebuild by getting lots of assets. Here I don't think it accomplishes anything unless Huberdeau has chemistry with Yegor and they both have a great season.

He said it himself though. He thinks the team can be competitive and trying to be competitive is the standard operating procedure for the Flames.

So he says the trade offers are underwhelming....then he accepts one?
The good news is, as Flames fans we're àlready used to disappointment.

Its really early for this but I'm guessing the Flames draft between 13-16 nex5 year.

Flyers retain for three years and get a 6th. Calgary does no retention and get's a player AND a 3rd. Huge win in comparison. I don't think retention would have made a difference. You weren't getting a 1st or 2nd for Toffoli.

How would feel if the original offer was a 3rd and 5th?

Like someone could do better. Or hold out till the deadline. Or make him part of a bigger deal.

No it wasn’t but what happens if he can’t be traded due to injury.

What if’s don’t matter otherwise we’d have books written about it by every guy who GMs your favourite team.

Veteran GMs are looking to fleece the Rookie GM nothing to be surprised about. New Jersey was successful so far, other GMs will be encouraged by that trade.

How is is toffoli not worth a 1st mind blowing. Could we not got more at the trade deadline or even retained 2mil. So disappointing this teams kicks the sack

That only holds if no other GM wanted Toffoli

They can’t “fleece” a GM unless they are all colluding against Calgary

And if this is the only team interested , that really shows what the true market is

Because teams pay for what they think a guy is going to do, not what he's done. Toffoli is probably looked at as a guy who will not repeat his performance from last season, and that makes sense. He's slow and he's going a team that plays a speed game, so that's going to impact him. I wouldn't pay a high price for him knowing a reduction is likely.

Why would Toffoli be worth a first? He was only worth that when he had cap friendly term.
