I wonder how many posters that don’t like this trade have actually watched Sharangovich play.
He’ll be a fan favourite by Christmas

 Absolute nonsense of a trade.
 |
Sorry, we’re you expecting a 1st for an upcoming UFA who is 31? Because that’s what we paid for him when he was 29 with term…

The backlash on this trade is completely nonsensical.

Conroy saying Sharangovich's versatility to play all three positions and his potential on the PP with his scoring touch could help their PP. Touches on speed & size.
Mentions the two players' 5 on 5 scoring was similar.

Ice time was cut last season and played into reduced totals.

Trying to get younger with players that potentially provide similar production.

A few questions.

Since he was traded for Toffoli, is Sharangovich guaranteed to double his shots to 268?

And should we expect Toffoli to reduce his shots in half?

The return without retaining some salary was probably limited. Seems like we got a bottom-six C good for 10-15 goals, maybe with a bit of upside? And a late 3rd. Seems very much in the "something for now, something for later" kind of rebuild deals the Flames have pursued in the past.
Nothing but good things to say about Toffoli's performance in his time here. He looked out of gas in the playoffs in year one, but he was probably our most consistent and dangerous threat night-in and night-out last season. A shame it didn't come together while he was here.

Yup. I think it means Lindholm gets re-signed and retool trades with a bit of lacklustre futures get sprinkled in. Should have known not to get pumped for a rebuild.

Toffoli had 73 points last seasonSharangovich at 30 and was scraped in playoffs.

We trade a older top 6 forward for a young 3rd line forward.

The baffling thing is, what is this team trying to accomplish?
If we're competing this is bad. If we're rebuilding this is bad.

Maybe this should be a sign to the team.

 Old UFAs have little value.
We got fleeced in the tkachuk trade.

It doesn’t work like that.

There is a reason he didn’t have that many shots. Most likely he is not good enough to be in position to get that many shots

Conroy got low return on the team leading scorer

He got less than what they paid for him after the guy had a career year.

It seems his numbers were down last year because of a lack of minutes. Maybe the coach wasn't fond of him. We all know how that works. I am willing to wait and see what Sharangovich does here.

If so, great. He should come cheap after last season. Strong chance that contract is a bargain after he gets PP time with Huberdeau.

Toffoli is on the wrong side of 30 who has been a 45 - 50 point player most of his career. What were people expecting? Only Treliving was dumb enough to hand out first round picks for players like Hamonic and Toffoli.
Sharangovich is 25 and has played 3 seasons. One season he got 46 points. Alongside a 3rd round draft pick in this drafr.

I don't love this deal but okay with it. I think he might bounce back and score a bunch of goals on a line with Huberdeau.
