Likely just trying to cash in on "grit factor" on a player they aren't going to pay.

Their ownership has said that so long as OV is playing, they aren't rebuilding.

If the deals are not overwhelmingly in the Flames favour there is no rush. The difference in losing Gaudreau for nothing was his intentions were up in the air.

The NHL isn’t a developmental league, but players need to be put in positions to succeed. Gaudreau blossomed because Hartley put him in that position. Highly unlikely Sutter would have, and the point is players need playing time to make mistakes, learn from them and let their talent emerge.

There are too above replacement level players on this roster to compete for a top 5 pick, even with the exodus. Get a haul of picks and prospects and let them play. Huska is the perfect coach to build trust and compete.

No more trades of 5th round picks for Ryan Carpenter.

Play hard, entertaining, competitive hockey and people will buy tickets. Maximize returns at the deadline.
Injuries happen so it isn’t inconceivable that a team who trades a 1st next year might fall off, or the current roster might lose enough man games to be a lottery team.

Bottom line is you can’t design a team or a culture to suck or embrace sucking.

Edmonton marginalized McDavid's talent because of their moronic plan.

1 for 1, Wilson for Debrincat. Sure, why not.

Lindholm or Backlund to the caps to help Ovi get a ton of goals.

As badly as I want the flames to just trade em all, they probably won't get much back. Maybe waiting until the trade deadline is best. I mean, this market seems to be over saturated with the Flyers and Jets both having a fire sale.

I wish the Flames could get another 1st round pick this draft, but is it realistic?

They would want us to take Kuznetsov back, he wants out of there and they want to move him.

You keep posting over and over that you want them to tear it down and trade everyone. Now you don't think they'll get much back?

Pick a lane.

Mantha, Kuznetsov, Wilson (by overpayment), and Oshie (maybe) are the Caps' cap casualties, mainly the first 2. Bonus for Backstrom if they think he cannot regain form..

Kuznetov could be flipped with retention (2 more years at $7.8M)
or
a buyout saves 4 million each of the 2 years and then costs 2M a year for 2 more

Not terrible...

Like I said, as badly as I want them to, I'm starting to realize that they probably won't get much back. Maybe it's best to wait, unless they get offers that have first round picks in this years draft.

Hearing that Murray Edwards is extremely frustrated that nobody wants to play in Calgary and has asked Conroy, Iginla and Savard to lace them up. The message is just get into the playoffs and anything can happen.

Still waiting on a response from Lanny. Told the situation is challenging as he has many commitments to Eastside Dodge that would require a release from contract. Source told me it's a very fluid situation.

In all seriousness though, appreciate what insiders on this board have shared and any Flame related trade talk is exciting. Hope Connie pulls the trigger soon and gets some great returns.
