Not sure where else to put it. But TSN 1260 shut down at 9:13 this morning. Apparently in the middle of the morning show. Imagine this cast of characters end up in pod cats and the like. Have to think guys like Neilson and Rishaug who work with the CFL knew it was coming. Wonder how long the Fan goes till it dies off.

The notion that losing to the eventual champs is a sign that you're close to breaking through is hilarious... case in point, the Canucks did it three years in a row: 2010 (Blackhawks), 2011 (Bruins), 2012 (Kings)... then got swept in rd 1 the next year by the Sharks and have been a tire fire ever since.
I can absolutely see the Oilers following in those footsteps.

So between 2003 and 2015 there were 26 picks at 1st or 2nd overall.
16 have won the Cup
4 more lost in the Finals
6 haven't won the cup or made the Finals.
4 of those 6 are Oilers picks: RNH, Hall, Yakupov, and McDavid

The whole time I just heard Ryan Reynolds' "but why?" echoing in my head.
Everyone's out to give the Oilers a boost and take back worse players with term remaining, because there is somehow an incentive in doing that.

Bobby Ryan is the only top 2 pick during those years, who didn't play for the Oilers or Maple Leafs, to have not made the finals.

Of course there are teams that CAN trade for Campbell. The problem that coiler fans and their water-carrying media don't comprehend is that the other team also has to agree to the trade. Like sure, Arizona might be willing to take it, but it's going to cost a lot to do so, since they understand the value of cap and the oilers are seeking to buy 4 years of relief. Every team had a chance at Campbell last summer, so why would they jump to get the crappy contract Holland signed? Also, what is saying Campbell isn't smart enough to put 10 teams that might help on his no trade list. The guy didn't asking for trade protection for fun, he obviously doesn't want to be moving constantly.
Even if they can get a team that isn't on the no soup list that is willing to take on his contract, its still costing them a kings ransom. And that only gets them out from under the contract, they still need to acquire a goalie from another team, which means they need to spend those same assets they just spent. These people all forget that tanking teams take on dead weight for a season, maybe 2, and even then that's a steep price.. Yet they believe that teams are lined up to solve Holland's cap mismanagement problems and throw their own future prospects at him, for pieces that oilers faithful themselves can't stop saying are worthless.
