Probably, but the difference is sports is optional and life is not. It's understandable people are more passionate - and therefore frustrated - about the latter.

The problem is that Covid really drew out a social and political divide that was simmering that makes it really hard to find middle ground. Danielle Smith cannot be the premier of a party that I can say I appreciate you voted. I disliked Trudeau but I could see why people voted for him especially after Harper wore out his welcome. I can't get there with Smith.

It's still worth a try to appreciate all voters. That tolerance makes it easier for voters to change the parties they support. The old way of thinking where you choose a party and ride or die is dumb. We should be OK with the concept of changing parties without significant shame. It's a good environment (I think) to plant the seeds early and play the long game.

Fair comment about floor crossing to the NDP being unrealistic. I'm just saying there's a possibility that cannot be ignored, and there were a few others that already said the higher likelihood is that they go PC independent and create a minority coalition situation. Those comments to me show that many others agree that the current UCP majority is a shaky one at best and change can come in less than 4 years if she doesn't play her cards right. I do think the next 4 years are worth being optimistic about even with Smith in power. But whether we are pessimistic or optimistic about the next 4 years, tearing each other apart based on political affiliations is nothing but detrimental going forward.

You need a viable third party for that to exist and less Americanization of politics. Federally you can have more conversations because there is an outside chance the NDP can form government and people swing between Conservative and Liberal or more rarely NDP to Liberal. In Alberta and the US there is no middle ground because it is a two party state and the gap is widening. it is like the only two choices for the voting are the Flames and Oilers, #### gets ugly lol.

It grew out of the miss-information campaign started by some posters during COVID.

This all seems pretty simple to me. If you don't want people to point out you support bigots, don't support bigots. Since the UCP has proven to be OK with bigots running for their party, the way to not have people identify you as a bigot supporter is to not support bigots.

It still blows my mind that in a deeply conservative province, as it stands, about 1300 votes were the difference between a UCP government and an NDP government. And there was almost no vote splitting and no economic recession. That is some razor-thin margins.
