In theory, it is pretty easy. But most of the time things are never as easy as they should be because of rust or seizing issues or stripped screws/rounded bolts. I've run into many 5 or 10 minute projects that take more than an hour or even a half day.

Got the cartridge out, needed plyers, she was real in there. Found the replacement pretty easily at Lowe's for 20 bucks. Fingers crossed the installation is just as easy

If you sell something on FB marketplace, they agree to buy it an etransfer you. Then never come pick it up and respond.
How long do you wait to sell it someone else. Do you send the money back? This is a new situation for me.

First, have you accepted the money and have it in your account, so the transfer can't be cancelled?
I'd personally keep the money and tell them they have another 24 hours to arrange pickup. If they don't, tell them the item is going out front by the road and it is no longer your responsibility.

How much money and how much time are we talking about since it was sold? That seems kind of strange although after my wife's father passed she put up a bunch of stuff on Kijiji and someone paid for a carving and didn't pick it up for a almost a week so I guess some buyers simply get tied up with life.
You have two options in that you can just hold on to the item and money until they pick it up or sell it to someone else and hold the money for the original buyer in the case they come back to it.

It’s only $40. It’s in my bank account and she’s not responded to my last two messages.
Super weird!

How long before the cops come to you as suspect number one in her disappearance?

If it's just a $40 item, I'd just hang onto it for awhile, no harm in that. People get busy and anything could have come up.

Depends a bit on how big it is. If it's a $40 video game sure. If it's a $40 piece of furniture you may not want it taking up space.

Sounds like a good plan for someone that plans on moving in a month or two and doesn't presently have room for the item They just didn't tell the seller that they would be storing the item for a few months on their behalf.

Does Calgary have a good store to buy vintage/collectors/previously owned books? I was wondering about Crossroads market but I can't remember seeing a place that sells books. I also haven't been there in a while...

http://www.fairsfair.com/ in inglewood , kinda over priced, but a broad selection, lots on the shelf.
If you're looking for something specific Abe books has a network that buys and sells rare books. I think it is mostly online though some of the dealers will meet you in person.

I meant if it was something huge like furniture I'd tell the buyer they have a certain amount of time to come get it or its going in the alley. If it's something really small it's less of an issue, imo.

Westjet refusing to pay APPR for passengers affected by flight cancelations in anticipation of a strike. Reasoning is that the most significant factor was work stoppage or strike outside of their control.
But the strike didn't happen...
I wonder if some of these passengers will be successful in arguing that the strike didn't happen and the airline chose to make those decisions (full control) as a precautionary measure.
