Off-topic, but is the term ‘Pastor’ strongly associated with evangelical churches? I’m used to ministers (Anglican) and priests (Catholic) but not pastors. I know it’s technically an equivalent generic term for an officiant, I’m just curious if it’s more common with certain sects or is it more a regional term?

This drives me nuts, because so many people believe that BS about "you can't arrest a pastor who's preaching". A pastor (or rather, an officiant) is not able to filibuster their arrest by preaching a never-ending sermon. So many people misunderstand CCC 176. There is nothing in there at all about "you can't arrest a pastor who is preaching".

It’s not so they can fire officers who refuse to enforce, it’s to fill it with the types of officers who will refuse to enforce.

On one hand, having a Gestapo-level police force that "just follows orders" rather than acting morally isn't ideal.

On the other hand, the officers' reasons for not following orders in this instance are so bafflingly stupid and show an extreme lack of critical thinking that I wouldn't want it this way either.
