Let’s be really clear: The lottery happens before the broadcast. It’s not happening live. So Weekes giving away the Columbus drop doesn’t mean that something was rigged. Instead, it almost certainly means that he already had the list, and he just got ahead of himself on live television.
So stand down, conspiracy theorists. Or don’t, because having it play out this way while the big-market Blackhawks win the top pick is pretty much a worst-case scenario for credibility – especially when nobody on either broadcast even acknowledged it. But yeah, this is just the sort of mistake that can happen on live TV.

Ok, so they know the results beforehand. Then why are they coming back from the break talking about who they hope wins the draft lottery if they already know? That seems pretty damn dishonest and bush league.
Edit: I am referring to SN production, not the lottery process.

Connor McDavid would not be an Edmonton Oiler if the draft lottery was rigged.
The only fishy lottery in my opinion was the Crosby lottery.

If the draft lottery was rigged, the Coyotes would've won it once. Ever. Especially when Matthews was available.

It's show business.
None of this is new. This has been happening the exact same way for decades. If you don't like the fake drama, you know you can just wait until 6:30 and see the final results without sitting through the whole show.

What? Then how do you explain how he knew the Jackets had dropped to #3 before the reveal if he didn't know? That makes zero sense.

I think you're confusing their ineptitude with things being rigged.

Weekes in the NHL studios knows, Sportsnet does not, they were just taking the NHL coverage.

Weekes knew because he was part of the production. I’ve already explained that

Don't they have a law firm come in and watch the draw or do the actual draw.
I'd love to think it's rigged but it's not the only thing rigged is the Oiler series and the NHL trying to baby them to a cup.

If it was rigged I certainly don't think Chicago would've been given that pick after the ugly year or so they've had off-ice.

Alright, 16 it is. Time to go spelunking. I'm still on the Yager or Ritchie train, Danielson too. But it's time to dig in on the top 30.

The simplest explanation (Weekes is dumb and has a history of saying stupid things) is likely the correct one.

This was simply an editing error, it wasn’t live. Rogers is cheap and probably hired a kid with a YouTube channel to do this edit for them lol

Just a thought. I could totally see Michkov coming over to play with Ovechkin.
