"COVID was a divisive and painful period for so many"
OH COME ON! The COVID vaccine was a non-divisive and apolitical issue until opportunists like Danielle Smith decided to appeal to the ~20% of the population who through their own ignorance reject modern medical science. This was a very rare issue where politicians from different sides of the spectrum were all in agreement; Jason Kenney, Rachel Notley, Justin Trudeau, and Erin O'Toole were all pro-vaccine. The only people for whom COVID was "divisive" were the moronic Dunning-Kruger crowd who think they know better than educated and trained medical experts and the craven opportunistic politicians like Danielle Smith, Pierre Poilievre, Maxime Bernier, etc. who saw a chance to gain support from the freedumb convoy crowd.

Just think of all the work we can get done during the day instead of ranting about Smith's gaffs on CalgaryPuck and Twitter.

The funny part is that she couldn't even stand by her convictions. Went on down to the ol' USofA and got her vaccine there.

I disagree with a lot of NDP policies but I believe Notley to be smart, well intentioned and she’ll do what she believes is right. The UCP are the opposite on all counts, plus I wouldn’t trust Smith to do all kinds of sh1t (like banish the RCMP despite Albertans’ disagreement, create an Alberta pension plan despite Albertans’ disagreement, initiate a separation process, outlaw vaccines…crap like that).
I’m biting my tongue to vote NDP.

The problem with saying "I'm voting for the UCP, not Danielle" is that with enough TBA candidates, they can control the leadership and the party for the next 4 years. Do you really want to give this group of, frankly, insane people free reign for 4 years? Smith not extreme enough? No worries, we'll put someone worse in."

It's really unfortunate how many conservative voters refuse to sit down for ten minutes and critically review their party's policies and track record, as well as the ANDP's. I wish more people would stop blindly voting for party color, it's such a profoundly uneducated and ignorant way to vote. Smith/TBA will be the worst thing to happen to this province if she gets in.

Alberta premier apologizes for comments linking COVID vaccinated to Nazi followers
Quote:
United Conservative Leader Danielle Smith apologized Monday after a 2021 video surfaced of her saying she wouldn't wear a Remembrance Day poppy while comparing those who got the COVID-19 vaccine to followers of Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany.
|
Quote:
"As everyone knows, I was against the use of vaccine mandates during COVID," Smith said in the statement from her campaign.
"However, the horrors of the Holocaust are without precedent."
She said in the statement that no one should minimize the suffering under Hitler or the sacrifice of veterans.
"I have always been and remain a friend to the Jewish community, Israel and our veterans, and I apologize for any offensive language used regarding this issue made while on talk radio or podcasts during my previous career," the statement read.

Jesus, she doesn't even understand the word precedent.
Anywho, who knew the modern Alberta conservative enjoyed apologies so much. Such a spineless group.

Regardless out election outcome, she won't be party leader a year from now IMO.
