If the Flames can get Kakko or AF for Lindholm we need to take that chance they are going to break out. It would also more than likely help the cap over the next few years.

I think it was on Flames Talk last week but Pat said (and I agree) that the Horvat deal is the starting point for discussions on a Lindholm trade

To Vancouver: F Alexis Lafreniere, D K'Andre Miller
To NYR: F Brock Boeser, 1st round pick.
|
Vancouver get Lafreniere AND Miller for just a first? And they have to take on Boeser?

Go big or go home.
Lindolhm (assuming extended) and hanafin for NYR two young 1st rounders who need a change of scenery.

Does the salary cap come into play?

AL is an RFA. So depends on term - guessing 2.5-3.5mm. So rangers add around $4mm cap but flames could eat 50 percent both contracts which leaves rangers with managing cap structure come 2025 season.

Don’t get the obsession with Laf or Kakko. I’d rather we get another pick this draft if we are trading one or both of Lindholm/Hanifin.

I highly doubt Elias Lindholm is going anywhere. I am betting on an extension this summer.

I also said I would be pretty shocked if Sutter was back weeks ago when everyone thought he was staying.. How did that turn out?

I understand our situation going forward, with aging players on long contracts,etc- but Lindholm is arguably our most important forward, and it would hurt to lose him. He's a Selke-quality Center, so we better be getting some good assets if we decide to move him. A young C would be nice. If we're dealing with NYR, Chytil would hopefully be a part of that package.

If the Sharks offer the 4th overall pick for hometown Boy Dustin Wolf, would we consider it?

It also would never happen.

You take that and run. No way it happens. Carlson or Michkov will both be elite.

Goaltending this year showed us how important that position is. I’d still pass. Wolf is just as likely or even more likely to be a superstar at this point.

It will be more fun to watch wolf succeed in Red. But you take that trade every day.

2022/2023 Trade Speculation and Rumours
I wonder if Buffalo would be willing to part with their first round pick this year for Lindholm or Hanifin+? They’re set to pick 13th overall and were the closest to making the playoffs that they have been in a long time. I think that franchise is desperate to take the next step. Buffalo and possibly Detroit are the only teams that I see with top 15 picks that probably see themselves as ready to get back into the playoffs next year. However, I think Yzerman is smart enough to hold onto his picks until his team is a playoff team.
Would Hanifin + Vladar + 3rd round pick be enough for the 13th overall pick? Too much? Too little? They might want Lindholm instead but if that’s the case, I hope the flames would not need to add to Lindholm in order to get 13th overall. I really never know this time of year though because the draft is when first round picks are at their highest value and players with 1 year left on their deal are at their lowest value IMO.
