I know I've seen a place in Gasoline Alley (up by Red Deer) that is a "Gospel Store" or something like that. I don't know if they'd have what you're looking for and I don't know what it's called, so it's probably no help.

She checked the only religious store I know of (that one on 32nd Ave NE by McCall Lake golf course) but no dice. She also tried Kacz Kids at the Deerfoot Outlet Mall but they only had gowns for sizes 12 months and up.
Guys you gotta help me out. I told her that it would be no sweat to find a place that sells them in Calgary. We've got less than a week to go and she's starting to get a little testy with me.

Isn't there a religious store downtown somewhere? I am certain of it. Or maybe its a bit south...but on the southern outer edge of downtown?

That would be Christian Publications. I don't know if they'd sell such stuff though as it's mostly a book store, but you could certainly ask there.

Christian Publications is on 9th Ave SW, but that one and the one by McCall are both evangelical type stores so I doubt they'd carry a baptismal gown.

Maybe they'll next day ship?
Or maybe call a Catholic church, they might have an idea where to look.

Sears has them online, perhaps they have them in the store too.
Any of the big department stores should carry them

Does anyone know a place in Calgary where one could procure such a gown for said purposes? Any advice would be highly appreciated.

I am sure Sears has christening gowns, probably the Bay too, maybe even Zellers, etc. and you could check or phone the trendy kids stores, Gymboree, Kaz's Kids.

Yah, when we looked 3 years ago, we found them at both Sears and The Bay. But the church wanted full-immersion baptism (and actually discouraged gowns) so, ironically, the gown had to be removed just prior to the ceremony, so it ends up being more of a hassle than anything.

When I was looking for my nephew, I found Sears Chinook Centre had the best selection and that was last year.

Luckily, we're not full-immersion: just pourin' water over the head. We'll take a look at Sears, The Bay, etc tonight. Thanks for all the input.

Thanks again for all those who offered their input. Luckily for me, we found something suitable tonight. The Bay, Zellers and Sears all had gowns but they were too frilly and lacey for our taste.
We settled on a little silk number from Baby Gap. Formal yet understated. Traditional without being too ostentatious. For fifty bucks, though, you'd hope to be able to get more than one event out of it. It's dry-clean only so probably just as well...
