I ask because I thought Ezra Miller's Flash was some of the high points of the last few DC movies....granted, in context that high-point is not all that 'high' but I thought he was alright.
And I try not to get bogged down too much in real-life actor drama because I dont care that much and Ezra Miller is a certifiable lunatic.
For myself, I find myself preferring Grant Gustin's take on the character. It seems more...authentic. Flash is supposed to be one of the smartest men in the world, and I could never not see Miller's take as anything but an awkward idiot. If I had nothing to compare Miller's Flash TO, that could work. But with such a great example of what a Flash SHOULD be right there, it really puts into question Miller's.
I've watched the trailer for this movie, and it looks like it still continues...with a character who's supposed to be really smart stupidly bumbling his way through the whole thing.
The real life antics don't bother me either, that's for the courts to decide.

It's just that flash is funny, cool, muscular guy. Ezra Miller is none of that. He's just too awkward and unlikeable. The Flash has depth to him with such a rich history. The Ezra Miller Flash had more of a Jason Biggs in American Pie, sort of feel.
He's just not a good Flash.

I always thought of the Flash as a confident, intelligent jock. The 90s TV show kind of got that. The current TV show has the intelligent part, but is missing the confident jock part. The movie version has him as a loser who is about two steps removed from shooting up a school.

It's like a Sheldon Cooper Flash "that's my spot", I agree that the Barry Allen part is definitely off the mark.
That being said I am still pumped for the movie and have hopes that given everything that has gone down with Miller and DCU and Gunn and all that, this is his send off and closing another chapter on the Snyderverse. As we transition to the GunnVerse? oh god i dunno what to call it but probably not that.
One of the cool things with Batman and Flash teaming up in the comics has always been their combined detective work. Hoping to see some of that come through.

This looks great! Little disappointed they are not continuing the Bay Transformers series but still really excited for this.
Yeah no, I'm starting to think this is turning into a bit for you, you're just saying stuff about universally hated movies to get reactions. There can't be anyone on earth who legitimately thinks this, lol.
What's next, you finally watched all the Indiana Jones movies and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is your favorite?
It's a sequel to Bumblebee. I agree that the Bumblebee was a big step up from the Bay-Verse though.
Beast Wars is peak 90's nostalgia for me, I was in to and knew of Beast Wars before I knew the original Transformers. I was just right in the perfect age-range when it debuted. So this is a must-see for me. Showed the trailer to my boys last night and they are IN, so we're going.
Oddly enough I've seen that the show was called 'Beasties' in Canada due to trademark issues but every memory I have it is being called 'Beast Wars' -- very strange.

Beast Wars was made by the same Canadian company, Mainframe, that made Reboot.
I was a bit old to truly enjoy Beast Wars when it came out, but did rewatch it later. I found the show a bit slap-sticky to enjoy as an adult, but the sequel "Beast Machines" was solid, although probably too philosophical for most kids.
Look are the Bay Transformer films perfect, hell no. They are over long with needlessly complicated plots and terrible human characters. BUT, they have probably the best destruction porn scenes in any film franchise, and absolutely epic final battles that look stunning on 4K. There is a sense of grandness and scale to them, that is unmatched. My ranking of the films would be:
I had a fun time with all 6 of them, even the 5th one which is my least favorite has some good parts (especially the final battle) unfortunately it also has a lot of bad stuff in it too.

I dunno, my tastes may be unconventional but I like what I like. Roger Ebert said the hardest part of film criticism is being honest with yourself. If you like something but everyone thinks it's terrible, you have to have the courage to say that you like it. I recognize lots of movies I enjoy (BvS, Batman &Robin, Transformers, Halloween 3)are not well received but I do enjoy them.

I'll give you Transformer 1-3 as decent visual spectacle / guilty pleasure movies but after that it just becomes more and more noise in that franchise. I'm not some connoisseur either and have enjoyed plenty of 'bad' movies but even the most ardent 'Transformers' movie apologist would have to admit it was definitely time to move on from the Michael Bay stuff, not still in 2023 being disappointed that that iteration is over (especially when this is the second post-Bay movie, it's already been over!)

Your probably right, after 5 films and diminishing box office returns and critical reception it was probably time to reboot. I actually really liked Bumblebee as well and I'm looking forward to this new one, looks to be a meld of good story and epic battles.

They’re making another gladiator and Connie Nielsen has signed on to be in it.

Connie Nielsen has closed her deal to return, while Joseph Quinn is in negotiations to play Emperor Caracalla in the untitled pic for Paramount. They join Paul Mescal, who will star as Lucius, Barry Keoghan and Denzel Washington. Ridley Scott is returning to direct.
