As someone who initially started out intending to be an accountant (before I realized I was too cool to be one), I take offense to this!

Ken King wasn't a hockey person. He was a businessman for the organization; and a good one at that. One thing from that presser yesterday that I did think was the King likely would've handle Bean's role better. Man knew how to talk in front of mics. Also miss how engaging with the fans he was.

I get that as stated. But why is an accountant running a hockey team?
Is Murray Edwards in love with Calgary?

We still need solid answers from Treliving why he left. If I was running CSEC, i'd want the information. It's all about information.
My post is not about being dumb, or inflammatory. My post is why is an accountant at the head of the organization or on TV?

We need answers as to why he left? That's between Treliving and CSEC. You and I may like to hear those reasons but we're not entitled to them.
Why is an accountant at the head of an organization? He worked his way up. Here is a brief bio of John Bean https://www.stampeders.com/john-bean/. Put two and two together.

I am looking for other hockey teams that have an accountant at the head. That is all.

Players do exit interviews. Accountants don't.
No offence to any accountants

Man you're really fixated on this guy being an accountant.
He's not the president of hockey operations. He's the CEO of a business organization which the Flames happen to be a part of. He makes no hockey decisions. He probably has input on budget decisions that affect the Flames, which makes sense and is probably common practice among people in similar positions in other organizations.

My main question is that why do we have an accountant as the forefront of an NHL team?

I'm not sure if your ######ed, you don't know how to use google or you just want to troll. I'm guessing it's your ######ed and you want to troll.
You can easily google who the President/CEO of each NHL team is. And once you do this, you will realize why your question is even more ######ed than the fact you don't know how to google anything and decided to start a whole ass thread about this topic.
You don't even know what the President/CEO of a pro sports team does, why do you care who occupies the role?

I may be way off base but seems like miscommunication, misunderstanding or both. I think the original question is why an accountant would run a hockey team and examples of other teams that use accountants in that capacity, and I think there is a misunderstanding in regards to his actual role by the original poster. He isn't running the team is the short answer I believe.
I know the season was crappy but we can at least be civil with each other

Why not? Ken King didn't go to "pro hockey management school" either, he started out selling ads for newspapers after high school.

The days of billion dollar hockey teams being run by hockey people is coming to and end, albeit very slowly.
You want to wonder why the culture of hockey teams is so terrible, look only towards the old white hockey players running the show.
Put professional managers in charge of the team, and have hockey people being in charge of only the scouting and hockey stuff, but being lead by professional business men, you might get somewhere.
That's why guys like Craig Conroy should never sniff being in charge. Great guy, gets along with the players, and likely knows his hockey stuff. But big business, looking at things like salary cap etc.? No way. Now, him being in charge of the hockey stuff may make sense. But not the whole thing.
Now there are some hockey people who are fully qualified to run the entire show.
But guys like Sutter have shown he can run the hockey show, but not the business side like cap management etc.

What in the actual frik is happening in here? I feel like Bean was hired for his business acumen and not his ability to cut a promo. Clearly the guy was uncomfortable and was thrown into the fire. Not everyone can be Ken King charming.

As far as I can tell, it’s an incredibly dumb rendition of “Who’s on First?”
