Another player that believes the same group of players can contend (Raz). Leads me to believe that there are concerns among the players with Sutter as their coach.

I've been very hard on Huberdeau but will give him a ton of credit for what he said today. Sounds like he is committed and wants to be here. That is refreshing. Disappointed that Backlund wants out, but I get it since he's at that age and wants a cup.

Tyler is one of Sutter's guys. So of course he's going to sound more positive haha.

But OsPOT is right, the feelings are raw. Let's see what the next month or so brings.

Never know how personalities will mesh and get along.
I think there are signs of friction between players as well. When Huberdeau was taken off of Lindholm's line, Sutter made a comment that Lindholm was here a long time and would get to play with players that he likes. There is something between those two I think.

Raz also said people have been fishing for fake stories and reporting them all year.

Andersson, Markstrom and Huberdeau seemed to honestly be the most emotional of how things went this season. I mean Andersson more so dealing with his injury.

Yeah, I don't see how we can extend another 30+ year old if we're losing our top two centres this summer as it seems we are.

In that scenario you have to sell high on Toffoli and it would be an excellent return. Between Lindholm, Backlund and Toffoli you could really get a haul of picks and prospects that could kickstart a proper rebuild.

good that Huby is saying all the right things, but what else is he gonna say when he's locked in till the end of the decade with no chance for movement. the other guys might have a bit more control of their destination in the next little bit so they don't necessarily have to do the PR thing

Or concern with 889 goaltending.

You still need guys who can - and have - shown leadership at an NHL level. So can't get rid of everyone.

The number of things that went wrong or can be attributed to chance is staggering.

I am looking forward to getting to listen to this all at a later time when I can.

Personally I am glad that Lindholm maybe wants out. I want some major roster retooling with an effort to get younger as the key. I think this team can be retooled and maybe not right back in the mix next year but not that long.

With an incredibly weak UFA class upcoming I can see there being a lot of interest in the Flames players with 1 year remaining especially if they sign extensions after the deal is made.

Glad to gear Backlund & Lindy being honest.
It feels like ownership/management won't face the truth unless it's forced in them, so this is a blessing in disguise.

Huby & Weager saying the right things, which is nice but they've already committed to long term contracts so we should expect different tone than the expiring guys

Sounds positive so far, the more guys we can move to get younger this summer the better. Hopefully Hanifin follows Lindholm and Backlund’s lead.

I see this more at Backlund and Lindholm stating they want to play for a contending team at a fair price. If the flames do the work on fixing issues this summer, I think they'll be open to an extension. They're not taking hometown discounts to play on a rebuilding team.

Lindholm is tricky because he's going to want to be paid for how he's produced over the course of his time with the Flames, while the Flames will want to pay him for how he produced in the last season, without Gaudreau/Tkachuk.

Either way all of this is interesting. We've always said this team would have to be dragged kicking and screaming into a re-build.

Maybe that's happening.
Not a bad thing.

Cursed year in many ways.

And in the end, they were still held down with all these things coinciding JUST barely enough to miss.

They rolled a 100-sided die and came up with the ####iest side. Could've easily gone many other ways.

I hope so. Those are two excellent players

Personally I’d prefer to see them as Flames rather than move on.

Kadri? Off you go
