This probably won't be his last NHL game, but it really should be. You rarely get to go out exactly how you want, but this may be as close as he'll get given everything he's done with that team.

I hope we don’t start a Jonathan Toews “would be a good fit to Calgary Flames “ thread!

I actually thought they might bring him back. I dunno how much interest there will be around the league for him

Good career but the infection and injuries derailed the end of his career. Some sucker will pay $3M plus for him but I don’t think he’d be an effective leader playing on the 4th line on most of these championship teams. He should be wrapping it up, or signing for league minimum if he wants a championship.

If Darryl is running the show it wouldn't be far fetched unfortunately.

This is a weird comment, really should be his last game? The guy turns 35 this year. He still has something to offer any team looking to win now.

I suspect it's like 60/40 his last game. He just hasn't formally decided he's going to retire yet and wants to keep his options open for now.

Honestly if you end up trading Backlund or Lindholm you could probably do worse than a 1 year deal for Toews to be your 3rd line center.
His post-COVID illness has messed things up for him but even then he's been over 0.5 PPG the last two seasons.
Would not be surprised if he ends up in Pittsburgh at all, think him and Crosby are close.

I think it would be cool for him to sign back home in Winnipeg.

I realize it was a tiny sample, but I thought he looked decent against the Flames. Still doing Toews things (winning face offs, controlling the puck). Would be curious what his salary expectations are, but I would assume it would be more about picking a contender for one more shot, or just retiring. He had a good run.

Toews has had a rough few years with illness. He still has something to offer.

How is it weird? He's been sick/injured pretty much the entire season, still isn't fully recovered and may never be the same player.
He's 35, won his cups, made his money, has nothing left to prove.

so what.
Maybe he just wants to keep playing as he loves the game. He might enjoy being a supporting player on a good team.

I think he will sign a 1 year deal for a cheap AAV with the Rangers. He will want to play with Kane again.

Or you know, earning an income? lol
I mean if you still enjoy the game and can make a million dollars doing it, why wouldn't you?
People think it's like the movies and guys just want to be carried off into the sunset. Hockey is their life, it's their passion and their profession. It isn't as easy as just saying "ok i'm done."

Where does he spend his offseasons?

His recent comments in interviews make it seem likes he's really lost his love and passion for the game. Maybe that's the result of being on a terrible team. But I wouldn't be surprised if he retires.
