Oh absolutely. Was still pretty common to see streetwalkers until the late '90s.

There were hookers around that area in Eau Claire until at least 2007.
I also remember seeing some near the church by 1st and 15ave (near O'Connors until at least 2015

Was the MT washroom stall actually haunted? Or is it just a myth?

Ghosts aren't real, so... no.

That is hilarious. Never heard that one, ever.
To be fair, lots of unnatural sounds heard during/after staff parties.

Lol I lived on that corner for about 10 years and can confirm it was the hooker stroll. It was something else to watch the johns circle the block time and time again. We even made a drinking game out of it.

We lived near those tennis courts and it was pretty wild back in the early 2000s. If our apartment wasn’t a complete dump with a leaking ceiling and perpetually arguing/screaming landlord couple, we might have stayed longer.

The Mother Tuckers in Winnipeg also had a rumour of being haunted. Either that chain had bad juju or it was a low-key marketing ploy.

My primary recollection of Mother Tuckers was that they had amazing onion rings, and that there was a woman who worked there that had forearms as thick as my quads. It was impressive (?).

The last time I ate at Japanese Village was when it was on the corner of 4th Ave and 2nd Street SW, which had to have been... oh, at least 15 years ago. Used to be just down the street from The French Maid!

I used to go there a lot when it was in that location. We ate with Jarome Iginla one night!

I don't remember the hookers being very prevalent around Eau Claire past about 2000, but I can't say I was paying much attention. I used to frequent Eau Claire Market regularly ca. 2005, and it was pretty rare to see any streetwalkers.
1st Street and 15th Ave was definitely a hooker stroll too! That was the last place I recollect seeing a hooker; I was propositioned by one while walking to my car after a Flames game in about... 2018?

Most of the ‘A’ stroll workers near Eau Claire were there until about 2012/2013. A lot of them tried to hold out from Craigslist and such but they eventually had to adapt.
‘C’ stroll workers still exist on 15 Ave though definitely not to the extent as it was in the early 2000s.
Most of the other strolls are defunct now.

Is “streetwalkers” the new term for hookers? Since when? They weren’t really walking those streets, you know. More like standing next to French Maid and winking suggestively.
I used to work at the Stock Exchange building in the 90’s and Hy’s was the place to go after work for French onion soup (best in town) and cheese toasts. Then French Maid for drinks thereafter if the mood was good. Pied Pickle was THE lunch spot. Loved their clubhouse sandwich.

No idea where I learned the term, but I'd heard it decades ago.
EDIT: "Streetwalker" as opposed to "call girl", whom would have to be called on a telephone to arrange for their services.

No, it's a very old term for hookers. It's something my mother would have said, "she's dressed like a streetwalker."
According to Webster's, it was first used in 1591: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/streetwalker

Never heard it used this way. Well, I’ve learned something new today!
