Totally. I think people are optimistic he can bounce back because they're, you know, FANS of the team.
But I mean if you really want to drop in every time Berrios has a tough inning fill your boots.

And maybe we don’t write a guy off for the entire season after a single inning…

Well, my point is it has been like 3 or 4 straight seasons, not one inning. But yeah.

And because he wasn't ever trending down prior to last season like the Strawman seems to think he was lol
Players do bounce back after bad seasons when they have multiple years of strong track record prior to the bad season.
I think the Strawman got his feelings hurt by having his "He wAs TrendiG DoWn" BS argument torn to shreds, so the strawman said "wAit UntIl BerRIos hAs a BAd Start anD I'll sHow ThesE gUys!"
haha

That is top of the rotation production

I’d fire this ump.
But I say that about 90% of them…

No I wasn't. I had baseball savant linked at me, which showed exactly what I'd been saying as true. He has a small uptick one year after starting to trend down, which is some how the justification for the fact he hadn't been getting worse. But even in that uptick season, when you break down his stats with just the Jays after the trade in that one year, he was a tire fire.
The response I got was "BUT COVID SEASON!" and then I walked away.

6" off the plate and it's a strike again?
These umpires really are pushing for robo-umps huh?

You said he had a massive drop off in the covid season when he actually had front of the rotation season when you take the fact that his WAR was only based on a shortened season.

Except I wasn't looking at WAR. I was looking at his baseball savant page that showed all the underlying numbers as being way down from the previous year. Unless I'm interpreting that site wrong, that's ranking him in relation to other pitchers. He want from "real good" to "real average" and has kept going down from there.
The thing that likely accelerated the raging tire fire was going from a cream puff division to chummed shark water.

It's an interesting debate on Berrios. Personally I was angry with the trade at the time because for the price I expected an ace (given the prospects at the time), vs. a #2 guy. No idea why he's dropped off that badly but part of me thinks a lot of these guys don't want to push themselves too much after getting the big contract. Just a theory though, could be wrong about that.
