I desperately need an AI assistant. A tough rugby playing woman named Deb, who smokes cigarettes through a hole in her neck and calls my clients to shake them down.

Definitely pondering switching careers like 80% of my colleagues have due to these lames. It's ok, I don't want to eat or pay my bills.

I don't even have kids but stories like this still piss me off.

Hopefully this child pulls through. A smaller, faster braking vehicle might have made a difference. Please think about that.

The pictured vehicle is a Jeep Patriot. It's a Dodge Caliber—a compact car—with different sheetmetal. It's about 3100 lbs; about average for a compact car.

I hate to say it, but probably not. It's a Jeep Patriot, the thing only weighs between 3,133 - 3,373 lbs. to begin with, it couldn't get much lighter these days. The last Mercedes SLK Roadster weighed more than that (3,417 lbs.).

The only way you're getting that thing to brake faster is paying for good tires and quality brake parts, neither of which I have a lot of faith in the driver of that hunk of crap doing.

Yeah that car weighs less than a 911 turbo.

A 911 Turbo will outmaneuver and outbrake it though, and isn't shaped like a brick wall.

Of course the vehicle type might not have been a factor but I'm sick of seeing these stories of kids dying on our streets.

Stopping the DST time switch would also probably reduce accidents like this. Hope the kid makes it, so awful.

I know this area and have driven and ridden my road bikes through here quite a bit. It's definitely an area that is prone to frequent higher speed driving... and also has lots of areas of distraction (trees, snow piles, lighting, transition to wider road) making it tough to see smaller people. I'm not going to blame anyone obviously, but when proposals are made to reduce residential streets to 40kph this would be an area that may benefit (if drivers kept to that speed).

I sure hope the kid heals up quickly. That's brutal on them and their family for sure.

Better not buy at all or get one used. Or lower your wants and standards a whole lot.
Way more if you consider operating expense. Know what a set of 35” mudders is worth? Plus the wear in factory components never engineered for the massive weight being flung around, or the service life of aftermarket junk? Let alone the awesome fuel economy wins of an overweight hunk of #### being bagged on everywhere.

These fools are driving million-dollar accessories and somehow manage to still look like clowns.

Oh who am I kidding. 90% of these guys don’t maintain their tires let alone the rest of their rigs.

First time taking the train in 3 years. They’re still rolling out these dusty ass 40 year old U2’s.

Feel like I’m living in a Soviet time warp.

The seats are comfy compared to the new ones, though. The new ones feel like you’re being elbowed in the spine by an angry masseuse.

The amount of companies that are short staffed by choice that continue to trot out the "we are experiencing higher than expected call volume due to the ongoing COVID........" excuse for not having enough people at the phones really grinds my gears. Whether I'm trying to get in touch with my benefits provider, insurance provider, trying to find parts to fix my refrigerator, etc. it seems companies are really milking COVID as an excuse for poor customer service.

Arterial road (traffic volume), early morning (sun a factor?), not a marked crosswalk that I can see. I would think those are all factors.

Sadly no one would keep to 40 km/h on that road: it's wide, straight, few parked cars, no marked crosswalks. It's the perfect storm for collisions like this.

This 100%. People drive way too fast on this particular road. How there is not a marked crosswalk at the intersection where this accident occurred is beyond me. Multiple bus stops at this intersection and a major school bus pick up point as well
Drove this road this morning around 8:15. I don't see the sun being a factor in this accident. It was already high enough in the sky at 8:15 to not have glare be a factor
