Uh oh, a break by Charlie and he is serving for the match at 5-4 in set 2.

Yeah just some off. Felix fights back from 15-40 to have AD and then gives it right back.
Oh well

Hats off to Charlie, he was excellent tonight. As for Felix, his level of tennis was of high quality tonight, best ever result at IW, good tourney for FAA.

Yeah Felix wasn't bad last night but he had to be at his best to beat Alcaraz and his serve in particular just wasn't up to the task.

The heavy conditions at IW just didn't suit him against a player like Alcaraz who is just a beast on any short or neutral ball.
Make no mistake, FAA was in damn fine form, playing a really solid match - that effort and ball striking would be more than good enough to beat about 98% of players on tour most nights.

I don't know if it's too late for Felix to develop an effective kick serve, he obviously has the big flat serve and a pretty good slice, but in these slower, grittier conditions, a kick serve would really provide that little bit of variety for his opponent to think about. The way Charlie was returning last night it likely wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

Charlie also has way better movement.

Yeah, it's probably between Charlie and de Minaur for fastest guy on tour. I agree with Jack that Charlie has the best drop shot on tour and likely the best drop shot we've ever seen.

the entertainment value of a Carlitos match is off the charts. calling someone a human highlight reel is cliche, but it really applies to him. if he can stay mostly healthy throughout his career and reach his ceiling, this is the best possible outcome for the post-Big 3 era. he has a good chance of making his name known outside the sport.

Just read that Novak has officially withdrawn from the Miami Masters. He won't be coming from Cuba to Miami via a refugee boat

Swiatek just does not know what to do with Rybakina.

Both women's semi-finals were blowouts tonight. Sakkari losing badly isn't that much of a surprise, but the Iga result is quite surprising.

I don't know if it is. Iga doesn't seem to have a strategy for her other than "paint the lines". Elena just serves well and plays within herself in rallies, and then hits big but fairly conservative shots when she gets an opening. Shortening the rally is never going to be a good way to win for Iga against good players, she has to marathon it, but seems to get impatient and frustrated when Elena isn't making errors and tries to end points prematurely.

Well, Iga didn't say she beat me with the few tools she has, but there's a little but of salt there lol

Tough news for Jack Draper, as NF noted earlier, he's certainly has had more that his fair share of injuries...

Swiatek also doesn't really know how to fight. I don't think she plays many 3 setters. She most often crushes people or otherwise, gets crushed.
