My first question would be why did this lady have to be carried down the stairs to use the washroom... then I would be looking at Carson and his motivations.

Maybe write another one that shows you have the faintest empathy for a disabled person. The reason most people don’t destroy unoccupied wheelchairs is because:

1. Most adults don’t randomly destroy property
2. Most adults understand that unoccupied wheelchairs exist to be occupied by somebody who to struggles walk or cannot walk at all.

Whether Carson is malicious or so unfathomably stupid that it never occurred to him that wheelchairs are for disabled people, it doesn’t really matter. The fact that you can empathize with the idea of someone being that stupid but not with the person in the wheelchair pretty much sums up the issue with your “it’s overblown” position.

The reason she had to be carried down has nothing to do with his motivations. Two totally separate issues.

I think he’s saying that the fact that the bathrooms were not accessible is also a serious issue, which is true, not that they were connected.

I can see how it looked like that was the case but that wasn’t my intention. It was just to point out that just because you don’t like PepsiFree doesn’t mean everything he writes is nonsense.

It’s fascinating to me how there isn’t a single topic out there (it seems at least) where someone won’t swing in and defend total strangers for no reason. Even when they aren’t even facing any sort of discipline. It’s so weird.

Yes, we are in agreement.

This is what I am saying. My motivations are a little different and I look at these instances forensically. That's what my training and experience have led me to be the most effective way of assessing and remedying these issues.

Somebody needs to step in and defend the rich white bro, who will speak for them if not random keyboard warriors?

Yeah I definitely thought she was in the wheelchair when I read that headline, like damn that's a crazy story.

Seems like a non-story to me. Drunk 20-something does a dumb non-criminal thing and damages someone's property.

What? I'm saying he probably got away with a lot as a kid, and had dad's money to cater to his needs. He probably got a way with alot too because he played hockey and hockey players do dumb things. There's some really ####ty people out there when they're enabled like that, especially with money.

You're overthinking it.

And in two years he'll be 25.5. That will be 306 months. It really puts things in perspective.

It's pretty damn stupid coming across a wheelchair and just deciding to toss it down the stairs.

He's really lucky that nobody was coming up the stairs at the moment he tossed it down.

Definitely a ####ty thing to do - but is it possible that he didn't realize that belonged to someone currently in the bar? He may have thought it belonged to the bar for a disabled patron to use... I know some places have them (airports, Ikea, Wal-mart, etc.). Again, it's ####ty behaviour especially at 24 years old, but it might not be as targeted as it appears.

I'd say it's a story.

It'd not like kids smashing up a shopping cart, like used to be common delinquent behaviour

That's someone's means of getting around the world. And if she was just in the bathroom, I imagine that was pretty devastating to come out and realize someone had just thrown your wheelchair down a staircase

If a 24 year old broke your mother or grandmother's cane or stroller while she was taking a seat, would you brush it off as not a big deal?

The attitudes in here are something special.

I'm interested to know what kind of household you grew up in.

This kid lost his promising hockey career apparently. and because based on his own telling, partying and not taking things seriously. I guess he didn't learn from that.

Im assuming it’s because they see a piece of themselves in the person they’re defending.

So best case scenario he’s destroying bar property and still denying a disabled person from the use of the wheelchair?
