Not that the Sens as a whole were doing him any favors, but there were a couple that he could’ve saved.

The last two. He could’ve cut off the angle more on them but he kind of just sat there.

I’ve got bad news for you. It’s been 67 games so we know what they are. Team doesn’t have the mental fortitude to play this way for 3-4 games in a row. They might last one more, but then get comfortable and lazy again.

It’s been explained a few times.
Basically it doesn’t matter where you are on the ice as long as you get in a position to score. Like Iginla did.
To mention him in the same breath is complimentary enough.

He didn't even mention that his assist was also from the right boards. The dude just opened his hips the other direction. It was incredible.
Seriously though, glad he got out of his own head for a game. It was a bit of a rocky start but after his shift where he drew the penalty, he got engaged. Love to see it.
I mean, we essentially just saw Markstrom click into place and now is back like he never left, maybe the same can happen to Huberdeau with 16 games left. It will be amazing how well Sutter will coach when his 2 best players aren't on mental hiatus from the game.

It isn't a compliment and lose the attitude.
He is talking about a right shot right wing who scored 600 plus goals in a hall of fame career.
Huberdeau said if I was a shooter playing the off wing would be ideal but I am a pass first player who prefers to play on the left wing.
He also scored through the middle of the ice not the right wing and it wasn't a snipe he tipped in a pass.

Yeah but there were a couple pages of vitriol spewed by people who thought it was a OT loss before that thread was altered to be a win. Than a lot of second takes to respond to the initial take. So I'm not so sure that thread is a typical post win thread.

I think we are past the point where we need to build his confidence. This is on the player now. Sick of making excuses for this guy. I mean it's quite ridiculous that he has 13 goals on the season. Coaches have tried everything with him and just can't get him going. Also, Walsh's tweet was another shot coming from BOTH the player and the agent. Is he really in a position to complain this much? Own up to your poor play an help the team win. Sick of his antics.

Sick of the coach and his clown like antics taking shots at the player who has committed to play his grit and grind style.
Sick of watching him utilize the player like hes a mucker and grinder getting 15 minutes a night, stapling trash like Lucic on his line.
Look around the league almost every team that has a star player like this gives the player ice time. Its as if suddenly playing 15 minutes from 19 is making a difference.

There is clearly a rift between the coach and the player. If a person can't see this, I don't know what to tell you.
Unsure why Sutter dislikes Huberdeau, or why he feels the need to be like this. I don't recall Huberdeau being outspoken or a whiner in his career, or his agent chiming in on his behalf while he was in Florida.
The off season is beyond fascinating to me. Who stays, who goes, do they work together, etc.

Sutter is old school. That can turn off a lot of players, and it wouldn't shock me if Huberdeau hates playing for him.
Rhett on Barn Burner just on Friday's episode talked about how a month after they lost Game 7 in 2006 he was working out at the Saddledome and Sutter was saying things like "oh yeah NOW you are working out? etc". Rhett stopped working out there.
Sutter reminds me of those old school office managers who would yell and scream and threaten to motivate a group of workers. That management style just doesn't work anymore.

I think you are perceiving that the coach took a shot last night when he really didn't. Most people agree that it was a compliment comparing him to Jarome Iginla. Darryl is not a feelings type of guy so this is as good as it gets.
In fairness to the Lucic experiment there was some success at the beginning. I agree that it lasted far too long but I mean what else was left to try? He's produced hardly anything all season and been given chances on all different types of lines with a carousel of different players. He constantly gets PP one unit minutes and doesn't take advantage. You can't tell me he's being asked to muck and grind on the PP.
He's also been given multiple chances and OT and has directly caused at least two loses with giveaways. It's clear that there is a big rift between the coach and player but what is it going to take for this guy to wake up? Hell I'd be frustrated as the coach too watch this guy choke at every opportunity he's been given. Also, based on his poor play, I highly doubt that giving him 4-5 more minutes a night would do anything positive. We've played 67 games and his contributions have been terrible. It's not like we are in game 15 and he needs more minutes to get going. He is what he is at this point.

Its interesting to see how some people saw Sutter's comment as a compliment and others (even the Barnburner crew) saw it as a dig.
I woudn't suggest most people saw it as a compliment.

Not one to spread rumours but I will say your statement is true from what someone who is close to some of the players on the team. Its not just him.

I didn't see it as much of either. I can see how it would be interpreted as a 'told you so' dig, but I think it was more just him being frank. He said he was pleased with both Kadri and Huberdeau's play in the same interview. Also, the comparison he drew was to Jarome Iginla. How is being compared to Iginla ever a dig against anyone?

Sutter's comment was more directed at fans / media for the LW / RW thing saying "even Iginla scored on his off-wing" to justify the ridiculous decision to keep Huberdeau on RW the majority of an underwhelming season.
Meanwhile to the 13 goals comment above- tough to score when you don't shoot the puck.
