It’s because he has fallen into the age old dumbass flames franchise mentality.

Let’s look at all the playoff teams this year , and see who their top 1-2 game breaking forwards are:
East:
Bos - Bergeron, Krefeld
Tor - Mathew’s, Tavares
Tbl - kucherov, point, stamkos
Car - necas, aho
Njd - Hughes, hischier
Nyr - zibanejad
Pit - Crosby, Malkin
Nyi - horvat, Nelson, barzal

West:
Dal - Robertson, hintz
Min - n/a
Col - Mackinnon
Veg - eichel
Lak - kopitar
Sea - …. Benitez’s
Edm - mcdavid, draisatl, nugent-Hopkins
Wpg - sheiffle, dubois

Notice how almost every single one of these teams have an actual playmaking/play-driving center that is arguably the best or second best player on the entire forward group?

Leave it the flames to build teams based on wingers for at least the last 20+ years.

Just because we have a guy who plays on the top line doesn’t make him a #1 center. Lindholm isn’t that guy. Kadri was never meant to be that guy. When it’s all said and done backlund might be the best overall C over those two guys, as a 3rd line C.

You don’t find #1 centers in free agency. You don’t land them via trades. It’s highly unlikely to find them outside the top of the draft.

Flames best shot at getting that elusive piece was in the last rebuild which yielded monahan/Bennett… just because it failed last time doesn’t mean that they must avoid this route. Looking at the above list, it is almost still the only way.

But here we are cheering for a team built around Huberdeau, being led in scoring by toffolli.

I applaud treliving for this offseason, however, taking the Florida deal over the rumoured Carolina deal that was centred (pun intended) around necas should be a fireable offence. I’m sure they thought weegar put the Florida offer as the best in their eyes, but flames have proven to be able to land too talent on the wings, or defence via trades/Ufa/drafting, using a prime trade chip in tkachuk and not using it on a young top center is unacceptable.

I have so many questions
Who the #### is Krefeld?
How do you list Brock Nelson as a game breaking forward, but not mention Kaprizov for Minnesota?
Why list Mackinnon but not Rantanen who has been incredible for years?
What's a Benitez's?
Are you drunk?

I'm absolutely scratching my head on who the hell Krefeld is on Boston. Benetiez on Seattle is just lazy typing/autocorrect, but seriously, who the hell is Krefeld. That's not close to a Marchand or a pasta.

My guess is Krefeld is Krejci, but I wouldn't put him as a "gamebreaker" even in his prime. Talented 2nd line center. That's about it.

Boston is a terrible example for game breakers they are similarly constructed with very good two way centres and some high powered wingers.

I would say we have a similar roster actually and Boston is 50-10 2nd in the league in goals and first in goals against.

They were a magic act from the 70s. Very popular in Vegas.

Bubbsy only listed Centers. Krejci and Beniers are pretty easy to figure out. Seems people put more effort into criticizing than trying to understand it.

Yeah his point that team needs to be built with play making centers seem to be lost lol

Some serious depth to this comment.

He lead the Stanley Cup playoffs in scoring twice en route to a cup and a finals loss, and the 3-0 collapse in 2010 started when he got knocked out of that series. There was a time when you could absolutely call him a game breaker for the Bruins.
