Only if he can control the narrative. Which he clearly wants to do now, however he can't control the leak of more info, which means he can't control the narrative.
You are right in that the GTA doesn't care if Trudeau is bought and paid for by the CCP. They'll vote for him no matter what.

Its interesting how the slow leak of documents is happening.
Trudeau is being given every chance to deal with this properly, but at this point its obvious he has something to hide. But the longer he delays the more likely it becomes that more info gets leaked.
Hard to see how this doesn't end up as anything other than him resigning or the NDP folding the government. And if the NDP force an election, will the Liberals go with Trudeau again?
That’d be a critical mistake. If they voted in Freeland (shudder) they’d prob win again. However, then our PM would be even worse probably.
While I understand some posters here are quick to run damage control and try to find someway to deflect to Mr. Bicepgate who was such a hot topic earlier (no pun intended), the newest reports confirms that Trudeau straight up has lied about money being funneled to specific candidates, which were mentioned in the report.
Either he didn't read the reports, for which he should admit to, and resign for dereliction of duty in regards to the national security of Canada.
Or he did read the reports, for which he should resign for dereliction of duty as a Canadian and PM for enabling compromised candidates, and for which a public inquiry is needed to investigate just how deep the money tree went.
We literally have Beijing spies / plants currently running as MPs and Trudeau is saying "no matter what I say" doesn't matter.
Thank you to Global and Globe and Mail for continuing to push this story piecemeal and letting this unravel, and for providing responsible reporting and journalism.

Conservatives continually thinking "We've got Trudeau now!" is very similar to the democrats down south who always think "We've got Trump this time!"

Let's not forget that the Libs won the next election after the Sponsorship Scandal broke. It took the Gomery Inquiry exposing the corruption, theft and rot to finally bring them down and even then they got over 30% of the vote. People like to bitch about Alberta but there are even more people out East that will always vote Liberal.

Lost in all this partisan BS, is the courage someone has to be leaking this from CSIS.Trudeau has openly started the mole hunt, and they respond by leaking additional documents ( if they came from CSIS or someone from withing the parliament)
I believe PP has openly asked for anyone with information regarding Conservative members and interference (including CSIS) to come forward, bring the information to his party and all members will be released.
Thats the stance all party members should be taking. Cut the rot, dont kick dirt on it.

Meh, they leaked all over the place on Maher Arar and we had a National Commission which basically concluded the CSIS leakers were pathological liars when it came to that one. I am more curious about whether this is even true.

I am quite sure the 5 eyes partners don’t really want anybody commenting on issues of this sort publicly. Thus why it is going to NSIRA and NSICOP. So that probably explains why no responsible leader would comment publicly.
I was just commenting that the last time there was a concerted and ongoing leaking campaign from someone in CSIS it was found that they were pathologically lying and those leakers were pathogical liars, that is all.
I certainly think PP is terrible, but jumping all over him and Lilley for posting the exchange is just more partisan politics imo, and part of the problem today. PP can be a terrible person (which I think he is) but still ask the prime minister a legitimate question, and the prime minister should be able to actually answer the question - even if it's to say that he can't provide that answer due to national security blah blah blah, which would certainly be an improvement over bringing up Harper yet again.
PP is terrible.
Trudeau is also terrible. The two aren't mutually exclusive, and piling on the CPC even when they're doing their job, is not helping the situation at all.
Just my two cents.

What is the point of question period if nobody has to answer questions?
Questions are traded in advance of the show, so both parties know what's coming entering into the theater that is question period.
So it's not like Trudeau didn't know what was coming. Which also speaks to how brutal his fumbling around is. Also, for PP, why ask questions if they truly are matters of national security and drone on asking the same question you know he won't or can't answer?
If he can't answer he can't answer? Why not switch it up and state, "we won't ask for specific names in the interest of national security but can you acknowledge whether or not this is true?" Trudeau will still obfuscate and look like a moron, but try to continue boxing him in rather than just the same "Yes or no" and sitting down.
All of it is kind of dumb, anyway. It should borderline be illegal not to have to answer questions IMO, but that would be an impossible standard to referee too. Not much stops the Canadian government from doing just whatever it wants without any oversight whatsoever, and this should be concerning for all Canadians no matter what party you support.
