So, the Canes didn’t really give much up, but the Oilers freed up cap space for a defenceman, maybe Ekholm? Seems like a good deal for both sides.

Both Puljujarvi and Jeannot have scored five goals and 14 points this season.
The Oilers weren't quite able to get five draft picks in return.

Puistola is a very skilled offensive player, with potential top-6 upside. Oilers will ruin him.

Wow Puljujarvi reunited with Aho. Watch him pop.

I would expect an uptick in production but I still think Puljujarvi isn't very good. I know the Oilers ruin a lot of prospects but this guy is such a man-child.

I think it's 4.4. Plus teams are retaining up to 50% in trades this week and up to 75% with a 3rd team involved.

Nah, he was looking like an overhyped at the draft player that wasn't likely coming over to the NHL because he can't defend
Canes needed to drop someone

See what Holland does with the cap space, but Jesse going to a team with Aho, Teuvo & Kotka is a set up for a good Finnish.

This is exactly where I thought he was going to end up.
I really hope he can turn it around.
He could be a fun player.

Short term, favors Edmonton.
Long term, and it could really bite them in the ***, Carolina wins this big time.
Could definitely see Aho revitalize Jesse’s career.

He's injured so out for a few more weeks to a month. This trade only makes sense if a defenseman (Chychrun, Ekholm) is acquired. Desperately need a defenseman.

Puljujarvi needs to figure out what he is in the NHL. That hasn't happened in Edmonton but I believe Brindamour will find a role for him in Carolina.
P.S. I still remember the one time Puljujarvi scored when the puck literally went through the hole in Giordano's holder/skate. Luckiest goal I've ever seen:

I think Puistola is a UFA this June. Canes essentially traded nothing for JP.

Smith with his left foot on the post… and the puck is 65 feet away.
