Live in a hotel room for a few months to chase a cup? Not so bad. He won't be staying at the Holiday Inn.

Win 3 in a row and tell them see you got this.

Lose 3 in a row and tell them well thats on you guys.

Spend no assets.

Sure, if Boston calls he waives. But there’s also cap and value right now to consider. There’s 3-4 teams who are real contenders and can they afford him even retained? And for what - to sit on the bench and be a tough guy?

Iggy chased cups with bona fide contenders for two years and didn’t get close.

He pretty much said they aren't worth trading any assets for this season.

"Put yourselves in my shoes"

Pretty much tells it all.

The Flames are impossible to predict. These are the kinds of match ups where they surprise and pull out a win.

All signs point to this being a waste of two and a half hours.

Excited to see some other CPers are going. My son and I will be the ones in the Lanny and Macinnis jerseys. Maybe we’ll see you at Brooklyn’s or at the game.

Yeah ignore them. I care as much as anyone, if some of you want to be irrational and scoff at tanking, asset management you can cheer how you want but dont get on your high horse about it.

You’ll know after the first shot or two on net if it’s Markstrom

I had some credits from Bet365 so I picked one of the Same Game Parlays - Flames win, both teams at least 2 goals, and Lindholm to score. My $10 bet wins $50 and since the credits cost me nothing it'll keep me interested at least.

Well the sentiment in this thread indicates that Flames shouldn't even bother playing the remaining games despite being 3 points from a playoff spot. Just forfeit all them and start golfing early.

I think some of this stems from even if they make the playoffs, they believe they will get crushed. And to that I say you take making the playoffs far too much for granted. All 16 teams that make it have a chance at getting to the cup. Even if it's a very low chance, there's only one team that's gonna win it all, while the other 15 end the season unhappy. Why not take the chance to be the one with a happy ending? Even if Flames get swept, they at least took a shot, and get some playoff revenue.

I'm sure Buffalo who hasn't made playoffs in 13 years would love to finally get back. If Flames miss this year, don't assume that the Flames are going to return to them in the next several years either. The plan going forward may not work, and a non-playoff drought could start.

And drafting is a crapshoot. If Flames end up getting a draft pick several positions higher than they would've making the playoffs and exiting first round, there's no guarantee that player would be better than the one they would've picked with the later pick.

So in saying all that, Flames are not at the bottom of the standings were they have no choice but to sell and hope for a high pick. They have just as good of a chance of making the playoffs as several teams that are in a spot currently. There's no guarantee those teams above will keep pace, which could help Flames. While that's the case, it'll be foolish to give up on the season now.

There is also something to be said for fighting your way into playoffs, instead of cruising your way in knowing it doesn't matter how you play.

The record is what it is, it doesn't matter if we're 1st or 8th. The flames can easily make playoffs.

If anybody finds a wish chip in a bag of Doritos please wish for Dallas Series Markstrom to come back and make the subsequent end of the season and extended playoff run extra fun for all the "hoping for a loss" folks.

Radio guys were saying flames lead the league in hitting the post. If you consider the amount of 1-goal losses, they’re likely an inch away from looking like a substantially better team. Like, Anderson hit the underside of the crossbar late in P3, would have sealed it last game.

Not giving up on these guys. Not gonna tear out my heart, but they’re better than their record indicates I think. Go flames.

Indeed. I think if you have to battle your way into the playoffs by having to play at a high clip for the several weeks up it, you're coming in hot; which makes you a dangerous team to play against no matter the opponent. Upsets are very possible.

Would it be too much to ask for a Flames goalie to steal one game this season? Just one fricken game where our goalie is better than theirs?

Is that asking too much for godsakes?
